At SDA Bocconi School of Management he is Professor of Macroeconomics and International Business Environment within the Executive MBA programs, for which he has been awarded the ‘Best MBA Teacher’ prize. He received his BA in International Economics at Bocconi University in Milan, his M.Sc. in Economics at Université Catholique de Louvain and his Ph.D. in Applied Economics at the Catholic University of Leuven. He has also completed doctoral studies in International Economic Law. He has been a visiting professor, among others, at the Paris School of Economics (PanthèonSorbonne, Paris, France), NYU (New York, USA), Korean Business School (Seoul, Korea), Keio University (Tokyo, Japan), Fudan University (Shanghai, China) and KU Leuven (Leuven, Belgium). A Research Fellow of Fondazione Eni – E. Mattei (FEEM), Milan and Visiting Research Fellow of Bruegel, a Brussel-based think tank, he has been regularly acting as consultant for a number of international institutions, including the United Nations (UNCTAD), the European Parliament, the European Commission and the European Central Bank, analysing the role of international trade and investment and their implication for competitiveness. In the private sector, he has acted as a consultant on the evolution of the international macroeconomic environment for a number of multinational companies, among which the Freudenberg Group, Riello Industries, Italcementi, Sanofi, Whirlpool, BMW, AMD Industries, TNT Post. His main areas of research and publication are European economic policy, industrial economics and economic geography, theory and strategy of multinational corporations, international trade and foreign direct investment. He has published in several top academic journals, including the International Journal of Industrial Organization, Journal of Economic Geography, Journal of International Business Studies, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics. European Ideas Network 5 Ilaria MASELLI, Researcher, Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) Ilaria Maselli is a researcher at CEPS. She started in 2007 and initially worked as research assistant for the Director, Daniel Gros, and collaborated with quantitative analysis on several projects. She is currently the Deputy-Coordinator of NEUJOBS, a large research project aimed at understanding how multiple transitions in the society, the economy and the environment will influence European labour markets in the next decade (www.neujobs.eu). Her research focuses in particular on the impact of technology, educational expansion and institutions on jobs. Stefano RIELA, Reseach Director, Res Publica Foundation, Milan Stefano Riela is Scientific Director at the Fondazione Res Publica (Milan), a Lecturer in Competition Policy and Regulation in ISPI (Milan), in Micro and Macroeconomics in ISIDA (Palermo), and Research Fellow in European Economic Policy in Bocconi University (Milan). He is the Italian Coordinator of the Allianz Summer Academy (Allianz Kultural Stiftung, Munich). Previously he was Director for e-Health at Sicilia e-Innovazione and consultant for the Organisation of the 2003 Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
