introduction 4
Seven Islands Film Service, Seven Islands Film Associate and SI-Lighting are companies of
the Seven Islands Film Group. The service area was founded in 1995 with the Head Office
in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on the Canary Islands, Spain.
At present, Seven Islands Film enjoys the market share majority of Service Productions on
all 7 Canary Islands. Since 1998 the Feature Film area began to grow considerably, resulting
in the expansion of our company infrastructure with respect to our team, production facilities and equipment.
Nowadays Seven Islands Film is proud to offer you our complete Film Service with coverage
of every area of your project, from Location scouts, through entire Line Producing and running the whole production for you, as well as co-production possibilities with local financial
collaboration (subsidies) and interesting financial aspects in the new tax-free area known as
ZEC.
Since 2002 Seven Islands Film also began to increase its own Commercial Productions
mainly for the Canarian market and won its first award at the AD-Festival on Tenerife (category: food, sweets & snacks).
In 2006, the remaining missing link to the attainment of fully-functional, autonomous infrastructure was created: SI-Lighting. Our own Lighting Hire with enough equipment even to
fulfil the requirements of a full-blown Feature Film production.
In the year 2007 Seven Islands Film opens a 2nd office on the Island of Tenerife for better
Service on all 2 Provinces of Las Palmas (Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote) and
Tenerife (Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro). We are pleased to be the first Filmproduction on the Canary Islands with offices in both Provinces.

WHY THE CANARY ISLANDS?
The Canary Islands: Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma
and El Hierro, have established themselves as one of the premier destinations for European
film productions. Not only the shooting of commercials, but also the production of foreign
feature films, has been growing considerably since 1995.
Clip “Ayman” at Dunes
of Gran Canaria
In addition, the fact that the Canary Islands have their own Budget for financing local film
projects, has raised the level of interest in and the knowledge about the Canary Film sector
with some successful Canary Feature Film productions, crossing the borders of the Canary
Islands in direction of Europe and also Latin-America.
Nowadays we also count on the interest of third parties to invest in certain film projects,
obtaining commercial and promotional benefits such as product placement and infrastructural collaboration.
Beside the economic aspect, one ought to bear in mind other key aspects such as:
locations:
The all well-known statement: “Canaries, mini-continent under one roof” explains for sure
the variety of possibilities and locations that all the seven islands of the archipelago can
offer you with exceptional shooting infrastructure.
Set Decoration at Observatory in
La Palma as NASA Station
weather:
in comparison to other main film locations in South Africa and South America, the Canary
Islands are famous for their "everlasting spring", which means almost constant weather
conditions throughout the year without unfavourable weather seasons. Also, take into
account the advantage of more light-hours than in mainland Europe, due to the
islands´ geographical situation.
transport: Within only 4 to 5 flight hours from mainland Europe, you find a variety of worldwide
locations on our 7 Islands. Save your nerves and money without having to spend hours and
hours in planes.
infrastructure:
Besides of our company´s own substantial infrastructure, you will find plenty of film facilities
on our Islands (such as Prop, Wardrobe, SFX & other Departments).
spanish culture:
Get to know the Canary Islands from the other (non-touristic) angle. Let us introduce you to
the customs and typical lifestyles of Canarian people. Star talents and foreign staff love to
find out about this side. Start with a few nice “Tapa-Bars” and everybody´s heart starts
beating in Spanish!
communication & technology:
The Canary Islands have a high standard of communication and technology, complying with
the same standards and norms as in mainland Europe.

ETERNAL SPRING ON OUR MINI-CONTINENT
The Canary Islands are known throughout the world as the Islands of Eternal Spring. The reasons for the gentle climate are the prevailing winds - the trade winds - the lie of the
terrain itself and the cold Canary current, which ensures that the coasts and beaches of the
Canaries always enjoy magnificent temperatures, sometimes above average air
temperature.
In general, the Island climate is mild, temperate and moderate throughout the year. There
are no seasons of extreme cold or suffocating heat. Average temperatures fluctuate
between 17º and 18º C in winter and 24º or 25º C in summer. These figures are especially
applicable in coastal areas. The micro-climate is one of the most surprising and attractive
aspects of the Islands especially for Film shoots. More intensive light conditions, more light
hours, and due to the micro-climate, possibilities for weather back-up conditions, are the
main advantages of climate, making shooting so popular in the Canary Islands.

CANARY ISLANDS FILM,
transport and communication infrastructure is
improving from year to year, which facilitates efficient
production.
Feature Film “Vida según ofelia”/
Cuban Star Director: Rolando Diaz
and new coming DOP: Santiago
Torres
Perhaps it is also still a secret that local film infrastructure is growing with much progress
being made since 1995.
The industry is traditionally based on two Islands, namely Gran Canaria and Tenerife. Due to
the existence of the two political provinces: Las Palmas including Gran Canaria,
Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and the province of Tenerife, including Tenerife and the small
Islands La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro, the industry was established in the two capital
cities: Las Palmas de GC and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Seven Islands Film is the market leader in the Film industry in the Canaries. With our Head
Office in Las Palmas (Telde) and our inter-island network, we are proud to cover Productions
on all the Islands.
Enclosed we would like to introduce you to the world of 7ifilm. Please take a short time to
take a look at this small overview of our own infrastructure which has been expanding steadily since 1995. Commercial TV Spot “Anuncios
Falsos” Agency: Polaris / Prod.: 7ifilm
CREW: The quite substantial number of international productions on the Canries over the
last decade has built on the established pool of technical, creative and business expertise
on the Islands. First time out, most international productions elect to bring in key department heads, with the balance of crew sourced locally. As producers experience the full production values from the crew, they return with fewer foreign personnel. -->>

CASTING: The Canary Islands have a
diverse population that spans all groups.
This mix of ethnicities and cultures mirrors
the populations of Spain, Rest of Europe
and Africa.
Professional actors are mainly available
from Mainland Spain and represented by
agents. There are no set minimum fees for
artists, who are paid according to their status, experience and popularity rather than
according to the size of the role.
Experienced actors are open to parts, other
than leads or main supporting cast, depending on various factors. This can be negotiated with the individual agents and artists.
Picture deals or weekly arrangements can
be negotiated where there are a large number of calls.
The standard artist’s workday is 10 hours
per call with a 10-hour turnaround time.
Buy out rates have to be individually negotiated and are available on request.
B and C actors and Figurations (Extras)
are available on the Canary Islands. Due to
the shortage of Agencies of Actors & Models we founded our own Casting Department in 1999.
Experienced Casting Directors & Managers

Cuisine:
Seven Islands Film advises you willingly about the culinaries offers and the restaurants in the Canary Islands, and give you "secret tips", where you can feel the smell of a marvellous cusine in the air. General culinary information: The spanish cuisine is famous for its wide selection of specialities. Naturally, all that swims in the sea appears in the local cuisine: fish.
The best place to eat it is in a simple and small restaurant, there you can have fresh fish on the table, cooked with a lot of oil and garlic, fry, boiled or grilled. "Vieja", "denton" and "salmonete", sardine "sardina" and its small variant "pejines", perch "cherne", hake "merluza" and naturally, fresh tuna "atún" are in the menu. On the contrary, the crustaceans, like prawns or lobsters, are getting scarce. "Sancocho" is a dish, that consist of fish, sweet potatos, onions and garlic. Also salt fish and roast meat are included in a tasty meal. "Zarzuela" is a fish soup very similar to the french Bouillabaise. Who ask for a "puchero", gets a dish with pork and veal meat, peas, corn, apples and pears. However, the typical sauce of the Canaries is the "mojo", prepared with olive oil, vinegar, salt and many, many garlic. If it is prepared with herbs, it is called "mojo verde"; pepper and paprika give taste to the spicy "mojo picón". The"Gofio" was for the "Guanches" a main meal. It consists, in Gran Canaria, of toasted cornflour prepared with water or milk and honey that becomes a dry dough, which they eat instead of bread. If you want to taste the Gofio, you have to go to the interior of the island. The "papas arrugadas", rounds and smalls potatoes, that are boiled in salt water and eaten with skin, must be on the plate. Due to the fact that the spanish people are greats hunters, the rabbit meat ("conejo") often appears in the local or international menu, with mojo picón and papas arrugadas too.

General culinary information (II):
A world famous spanish dish is the "Paella". This dish does not come from the Canary Islands, but from Valencia and it is typical meal on Sundays. It can be cooked with prawns, lobster,
mussels, octopus, chicken, rabbit meat, peas, beans and paprika. Not to forget olive oil, rice and saffron, which gives the yellow colour to the Paella. Gran Canaria produces a small amount of great wine, however the most drunk wine comes from the Spanish mainland. They have a great quality and are exceptional for their dryness. In the Canaries there are imported beers, but the local "cerveza" is also very appreciated. For example, the beers "Tropical" and "Dorada" are produced in Gran Canaria. Finally, a meal in the Canaries should be finished with a café solo, black coffee, or with a coffee similar to the italian Expresso, the café cortado, which has some milk. The third possibility is the café con leche - white coffee. Luis Garrel at
