Tinsley Elementary School Parents:
Though no students were harmed, I want to make you aware of an incident that occurred
near our campus.
After school yesterday, several students were approached by an unidentified man as
they were walking home near the corner of Bob White Drive and Sanford Road. The
suspect— described as a Hispanic man in his late twenties, driving a white Subaru —
stopped and began asking the students personal questions.
Thankfully, the students managed to get away and were not harmed. Both HISD police
and the Houston Police Department have been notified.
An investigation is underway, and extra officers have been assigned to patrol the area as
a precautionary measure. In the meantime, I encourage you to discuss these safety tips
with your children:





Students should walk in groups, not alone.
Students should avoid distractions, such as cell phones, and pay attention to their
surroundings.
Students who are approached by a stranger should run away and seek help from others.
Students should physically resist and yell for help if anyone tries to force them into a
vehicle or a home.
Students should immediately report any incident that makes them uncomfortable.
If your children walk to and from school, I encourage you to escort them as a
precautionary measure, if possible.
Please know we take these situations very seriously. The safety of our students here at
Tinsley Elementary School is always our absolute top priority. If you see any suspicious
activity, we ask that you contact the HISD Police Department immediately at 713-8927777, or call 911.

Padres de familia de la Primaria Tinsley:
Necesito hacerle consciente de un incidente que ocurrió en nuestra escuela.
Ayer después de la escuela, fuimos notificados de que un desconocido se acercó a nuestros
estudiantes cerca de la esquina que forman las calles Bob White y Sanford. Afortunadamente,
ningún estudiante fue herido. El sospechoso, descrito como un hombre hispano que conducía
un Subaru blanco, se detuvo, llamó la atención de las estudiantes y empezó a pregúntales
preguntas personales. Afortunadamente, las jovencitas lograron escapar y no sufrieron ningún
daño.
Aunque los estudiantes nunca estuvieron en peligro, yo quería hacerle consciente de la situación
porque la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes es prioridad.
El Departamento de Policía de Houston y el de la Policía de HISD están investigando y se ha
asignado a agentes adicionales para patrullar el área. Mientras tanto les recomiendo que hablen
acerca de los siguientes consejos de seguridad con sus hijos:
• Los estudiantes deben caminar en grupos, no solos.
• Los estudiantes deben evitar las distracciones tales como teléfonos celulares y prestar atención a su
entorno.
• Los estudiantes a los que se les acerque un extraño deben huir y pedir ayuda a los demás.
• Los estudiantes deben resistir físicamente y gritar para pedir ayuda si alguien intenta forzarlos a entrar
a un vehículo o a una casa.
• Los estudiantes deben reportar inmediatamente cualquier incidente que los haga sentir incómodos.
Si se posible, como medida de precaución, acompañe a sus hijos cuando caminen hacia la escuela
o la casa.
Deseamos recordarle que tomamos con seriedad estas situaciones y le garantizamos que la
seguridad es nuestra prioridad absoluta aquí en la Primaria Tinsley. Si usted ve alguna actividad
extraña o tiene alguna información sobre este sospechoso, le pedimos que de inmediato se
comunique con el Departamento de Policía de HISD al 713-892-7777 ó llame al 911.
