The Party of the European Left welcomes the overwhelming success

 ELP STATEMENT / ELP PRESS RELEASE _______________________________________________________________________________________ 23trd March 2014 ENGLISH The Party of the European Left welcomes the overwhelming success of the March of the dignity 22-­‐M A delegation of leaders of the Party of the European Left (EL) travelled yesterday to Madrid to join the nearly two million people, according to the organizers, which staged one of the most massive and protest demonstrations in recent times. The Party of the European Left congratulates the organization of the Marches of the Dignity 22-­‐M on the important success of this festive and peaceful March of workers, unemployed, precarious and evicted people that have covered thousands of kilometres to make their voice heard in Madrid. The EL also welcomes the great work done by its Spanish parties (IU, PCE, e EUiA) that have supported the mobilization. The Party of the European Left, also denounced the disproportionate police action carried out last night against thousands of demonstrators staged one of the biggest demonstrations of recent years, as well as arrests. The police attacked with strong police forces that begun before the demonstration ends, at the same time that a Symphonic orchestra was singing the 5th symphony of Beethoven in the stage, when the streets were still full of people who festively and peacefully, claimed Human Rights as bread, roof and work. El Partido de la Izquierda Europea felicita a los organizadores de la Marcha de la Dignidad 22-­‐M por el rotundo éxito de esta protesta pacífica y reivindicativa de trabajadores y trabajadoras, parados y paradas, precarios, precarias, desahuciados y desahuciadas que han recorrido miles de kilómetros para hacer oír su voz en Madrid. También felicita el gran trabajo realizado por los partidos españoles del PIE (IU, PCE, e EUiA) que se han volcado para apoyar la movilización. El Partido de la Izquierda Europea también denuncia la desmesurada actuación policial realizada anoche contra miles de manifestantes que protagonizaron una de las manifestaciones más multitudinarias de los últimos años, así como las detenciones efectuadas. La policía atacó con fuertes cargas policiales antes, incluso, de que concluyera el acto, mientras la orquesta Sinfónica cantaba desde el escenario la V Sinfonía de Beethoven y las calles de ciudad aún estaba tomadas por cientos de miles de ciudadanos, que festiva y pacíficamente, reivindicaban derechos humanos como pan, techo y trabajo.
