Declaración por escrito, presentada de conformidad con el artículo 136 del Reglamento,
sobre la urgencia de subir los precios de intervención para frenar la crisis del sector
lácteo
1. El sector lácteo atraviesa momentos críticos en la Unión Europea, los bajos precios
pagados a los productores amenazan la supervivencia de miles de explotaciones que
no alcanzan a cubrir los costes de producción;
2. Europa no puede permitirse abandonar a su suerte a un sector estratégico para la
economía rural, que genera actividad y empleo y que es esencial para fijar población;
3. Las medidas propuestas por la Comisión Europea el 7 de septiembre avanzan en la
buena dirección pero no son suficientes, especialmente para las explotaciones en peor
situación;
4. Por ello, se llama a la Comisión a aprobar urgentemente una subida de los precios de
intervención que permita equilibrar el mercado y vigilar el correcto funcionamiento de
la industria y la distribución dentro de la cadena de valor, lo que repercutirá en una
subida de los precios percibidos por los ganaderos;
5. La presente Declaración, acompañada del nombre de los firmantes, se transmite al
Consejo y a la Comisión.
--Written declaration pursuant to rule 136 of the Rules of Procedure on the urgency to
raise intervention prices to stem the crisis in the dairy sector
1. The dairy sector is going through critical times in the European Union, the low prices
paid to producers pose a threat over the survival of thousands of farms that cannot
cover their production costs;
2. Europe cannot afford to abandon a strategic sector for the rural economy, which
generates activity and employment and is essential to tying people to the territory;
3. The measures proposed by the European Commission on September 7 are a step in the
right direction but are not sufficient, especially for those farms in worst situation;
4. The Commission is hence called upon to urgently approve an increase in intervention
prices to bring balance to the market and to monitor the proper functioning of the
industry and the distribution within the value chain, which will impact in a rise in the
prices received by farmers;
5. This Declaration, together with the names of the signatories, it is transmitted to the
Council and the Commission.
