COMUNICADO DE PRENSA Para publicación : AMERICAN AIRLINES MOVES INTO NEW T1 AT BARCELONA After months of preparation and planning, Wednesday 9th September will see American Airlines move into its new home in Barcelona El Prat Airport’s new Terminal 1. Having been previously based at Terminal 2A, the switch will give American its own dedicated check-in desks - numbers 301 to 304 - and boarding gate as part of the move. The relocation will be in conjunction with American’s oneworld alliance partners also serving the airport Iberia, BA, Finnair and Royal Jordanian – and all the carriers will have adjoining check-in desks and depart from the same area. The result will benefit passengers by enabling even smoother transfers and connections between the five partner airlines. In addition to dedicated check-in desks, American will also introduce three of its popular selfservice check-in machines as part of the move. These will be the first introduced into the Spanish market as part of the European-wide roll-out which will also see them arrive in Madrid soon. As well as offering additional check-in facilities and allowing passengers to select their seating preferences, American’s self-service machines also enable customers to complete a range of other transactions, including purchasing on the day space-available upgrades. Since the machines have been introduced in Europe, they have proved very popular with passengers, making them a valuable addition to American’s new facilities at Terminal 1. American’s Business Class passengers will also have access to the new Sala Miró lounge in zone D. The lounge offers a range of facilities including computers, WiFi access, relaxation areas, televisions and a restaurant, to enable passengers to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the terminal before their flight. Stephen Scott, American Airlines General Manager for BCN, commented: “We are delighted to be moving terminals and aligning further with our oneworld partners in the new Terminal 1 facility. We look forward to being able to further improve the travel experience for American’s customers and believe that our move into the improved facilities at Terminal 1 will be one way to achieve this.” Overall the new terminal will be able to handle 30 million passengers a year, providing 166 check-in desks, 101 boarding gates and over 100 shops, bars and restaurants. To help celebrate the move, American’s passengers will be offered chocolates at check-in on the first day of operations at the airline’s new Barcelona home. ### SOBRE A MERICAN A IRLINES: ® American Airlines, American Eagle y AmericanConnection sirven a 250 ciudades en 40 países con más de 3,400 vuelos diarios.
