WBA gives a monthly donation the winners of the the
Panama KO Drugs run
This afternoon at a press conference WBA Vice President Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, announced
that next year the WBA will organize a new KO drugs run-walk in the city of Panama. I reiterate
our commitment to support athletes.
"The WBA keeps on supporting sports and for that reason has granted a year monthly donation
to the first three places of the masculine and feminine division of the KO Drugs run, held in
Panama”. Mendoza said.
The winners are: Rafael Vega, Fernando Blanco and Félix Serrano in the masculine division;
and Yeimi Castillo, Georgette Cianca and Alicia Zorrilla in the feminine division.
Vega thanked the WBA initiative on behalf of the runners saying “This is a great contribution for
us who are very humble and sometimes don’t have the resources to train and participate in
events” said Vega, first place in 10k.
"We are very happy to know that the WBA will organize a new run” concluded Vega.
The President of Isthmus Runners, Gregorio "Beby" Miró, was also present and expressed
appreciation for the WBA contribution. “It is the first time in Panama that someone gives an
important support to the athletes. I wish others imitate the WBA initiative. Miro said.
AMB beca a ganadores de la carrera KO a las Drogas de Ciudad Panamá
Esta tarde en conferencia de prensa Gilberto Jesús Mendoza, Vice Presidente de la AMB,
anunció que el próximo año el KO a las Drogas volverá a organizar una carrera-caminata en la
ciudad de Panamá. También reafirmo el compromiso de la AMB en apoyar a los deportistas.
"La AMB sigue apoyando el deporte y es por eso que ha otorgado becas durante todo un año a
los 3 primeros lugares en la categoría masculina y femenina de la pasada carrera KO a las
Drogas en Ciudad de Panamá", dijo Mendoza.

Los becados son: Rafael Vega, Fernando Blanco y Félix Serrano en la categoría masculina.
Yeimy Castillo, Georgette Cianca y Alicia Zorrilla en la categoría femenina.
Vega agradeció en nombre de los corredores la iniciativa de la AMB. "Esto es un gran aporte
para nosotros quienes en la mayoría somos muy humildes y a veces no tenemos los recursos
para entrenar y participar en eventos", dijo Vega, ganador del primer lugar en la distancia de los
10 kilómetros.
"Estamos muy contentos al saber que el próximo año la AMB organizará otra carrera", concluyó
Vega.
El presidente del Club Corredores del Istmo, Gregorio "Beby" Miró, también estuvo presente y
agradeció el aporte de la AMB. "Es la primera vez que en Panamá alguien da un apoyo tan
importante para estos atletas. Ojalá otros imitaran la iniciativa de la AMB", comentó Miró.
