Comprehend the State’s social labor policy. Understand the differences between public and private labor laws and policies Command the labor rules of our labor relations system. Understand the relation between labor relations and civil rights, social values and ethics in the workplace Prepare students to discuss the impact of topics discuss in class on the labor movement in particular and upon society as a whole. Course Description Legal doctrines that regulate labor relations and their role as instruments of social policy. Topics such as strikes, picketing, use of injunctions, conflicts between rival unions, and collective bargaining, its nature and legal status within government; arbitration and mediation, their characteristics and application in government.
