The AVON DINGHY is designed for simplicity of assembly.
You may find that initially, everything is quite a tight fit. This is
normal, as during the first few hours of use, the fabric
becomes more flexible and will stretch a little. Thereafter,
fitting and use become easier.

BELLOWS
For inflation up to 2 p.s.i. (0.14 bar) connect the bellows hose
to the High Volume outlet as illustrated in the figure. Relocate
the bellows hose into the High Pressure outlet for
recommended higher pressures.
When 3.5 p.s.i. (0.24 bar) has been reached a red indicator
will become momentarily visible on the down stroke of the
bellows.
CAUTIONS. Do not inflate above the recommended
working pressure shown in the Owners Manual.

Raccorder le tuyau de la pompe soufflet à la sortie de gros
volume comme illustré sur le croquis, pour le gonflage
jusqu’à 0,14 bar. Raccorder ensuite le tuyau de la pompe
soufflet à la sortie haute pression pour les pressions
supérieures recommandées.
Lorsque vous atteignez 0,24 bar, un témoin rouge devient

remaining air to be extracted from a buoyancy

volumen como se indica en la figura. Transferir el tubo a la
salida de alta presión para alcanzar las presiones más altas
recomendadas.
Cuando se ha alcanzado 3,5 p.s.i. (0,24 bares) aparece
momentáneamente un indicador de color rojo al realizarse la
carrera de descenso de la bomba.
ADVERTENCIA. No infle el barco a una presión mayor de
la presión de trabajo recomendada en el Manual de
Instrucciones.

IMPORTANT – INFLATION PROCEDURE
Inflate one compartment (stern compartment) to “shape” only
(0.5 p.s.i. max.). Inflate the remaining compartment to the
correct working pressure (2 – 2.5 p.s.i.) this procedure will
ensure that continuous strain is not placed on the internal
bulkheads and that both compartments are at the correct
working pressure.

solamente hasta que adquiera “forma” (0,04 bar x pulg.2

método se evita ejercer un esfuerzo de
deformación continuo sobra los

The boat must be deflated or very soft when fitting the engine
mounting.
Locate the top two holes of the engine mounting on to the two
cleats, as shown.
Locate each of the bottom two cleats into the holes at the
bottom of the engine mounting.
Make sure all cleats are properly located in their slots before
inflating the boat to its working pressure.
Bei Anbringung des Motorträgers muß die Luft aus dem Boot
abgelassen worden sein, sonst muß es sehr weich sein.
Fügen Sie die beiden oberen Öffnungen des Motor-trägers
gemäß Abbildung in die beiden Lippklampen.
Fügen Sie die beiden unteren Lippklampen in die Öffnungen
auf dem Unterteil des Motorträgers.
Achten Sie darauf, daß alle Lippklampen richtig positioniert
sind, bevor Sie das Boot auf Betriebsdruck aufblasen.

Position engine centrally on outboard bracket, then clamp
screws securely, by hand only. As additional safety measures
it is advisable to tie the two clamping screws together after
tightening as illustrated, and also attach a suitable spring clip
through the hole in the brackets lower spigot, to secure
brackets in position.

Den Motor in der Mitte der Außenbordhalterung anbringen
und die Anzugsschrauben nur von Hand fest anziehen. Als
zusätzliche Sicherheitsmaßnahme ist es ratsam, die zwei
Anzugsschrauben nach dem Festziehen wie gezeigt
zusammenzubinden. Außerdem sollte eine geeignete
Federklammer durch das Loch im unteren Zapfen der
Halterungen gesteckt werden, um die Halterungen zu
sichern.

To row well you need only take short, quick strokes and your
boat will keep moving, steadily and on course.
In general, inflatables will always be more affected by wind
than rigid craft.
Engines
The light weight of the Dinghy Range produces excellent
performance with low powered engines.
On larger boats where the outboard is bolted to the transom,
particular attention needs to be paid to wind/sea conditions
and towing speeds to avoid damage or loss of your boat.
WARNING
Do not tow your boat with people aboard. Frequently inspect
your towing painter for chafe and check your boat visually to
see if it is towing properly. Failure to observe safe procedures
can be dangerous to persons and property.
Towing
Your Avon boat may be towed at speeds under 8 knots
provided sea and wind conditions are such that spray water
does not laden the boat. In all cases the boat should be
properly prepared, seats secured with lanyards, outboard
motor removed and carried aboard the main vessel, gas tank
secured, oars and any loose equipment brought aboard or
properly secured.

UTILISATION

Pour bien ramer, donnez des petits coups de rame rapides et

et du vent ne devront pas être telles que trop d’eau entre
dans le bateau
Dans tous les cas le bateau doit être convenablement
préparé, les siéges doivent être attachés solidement, le

motieur hors-bord doit être retiré et transporté sur le bateau
remorqueur, le réservoir de carburant doit être attaché. Les
rames et équipements qui ne sont pas attachés doivent être
transportés sur le bateau remorqueur ou solidement
attachés.
Sur les bateaux plus grands sur lesquels le moteur est
boulonné au tableau arrière, il faut surveiller attentivement
les conditions de la mer et du vent ainsi que la vitesse de
remorquage afin d’éviter tout dommage ou la perte de votre
matériel.
AVERTISSEMENT
Ne remorquez jamais avec des personnes à bord. Contrôlez
fréquemment I’état d’usure de votre ligne de remorquage et
surveillez votre bateau pour vous assurer que le remorquage

Aufgrund des geringen Gewichts der Dinghy-Reihe kann
auch mit Hilfe von Motoren mit geringer PS-Zahl eine
hervorragende Leistung erzielt werden.
Ziehen
Ihr Avon-Boot kann bei Geschwindigkeiten unter 8 Knoten
gezogen werden, vorausgesetzt die See- und Windbedingungen sind so, daß das Boot nicht durch Spritzwasser
belastet wird. Das Boot sollte auf jeden Fall richtig vorbereitet
werden. Die Sitze sollten gesichert werden, der
Außenbordmotor sollte entfernt und an Bord des Hauptschiffs
transportiert werden, der Benzintank sollte gesichert werden,
Ruder und lose Gegenstände sollten an Bord gebracht oder
richtig befestigt werden.
Bei größeren Booten, bei denen der Außenbordmotor an den
Heckspiegel geschraubt ist, ist besonders auf die Wind/Seebedingungen und Ziehgeschwindigkeiten zu achten, um
eine Beschädigung oder den Verlust Ihres Boots zu
verhindern.
WARNUNG
Ziehen Sie Ihr Boot nicht, wenn sich jemand an Bord
befindet. Überprüfen Sie die Zug-Fangleine regelmäßig auf
Scheuerstellen und führen Sie eine Sichtprüfung des Boots
durch, um festzustellen, ob es richtig gezogen wird. Wenn die

MANEJO
Remo
Para remar bien sólo necesita hacer remadas cortas y

La ligereza de la gama Avon produce un rendimiento
excelente con motores de baja potencia.
Remolque
Su embarcación Avon puede ser remolcada a velocidades
inferiores a 8 nudos siempre y cuando las condiciones del
mar y el viento no causen que le entre agua a la
embarcación. En todas las ocasiones hay que preparar
debidamente la embarcación, afianzar los asientos con

SAFETY
It is responsibility of the operator of a boat to know all laws
applicable to a boat and to comply with those laws in
equipping and operating the boat.
• Be sure that all required equipment is aboard the boat and
be aware of the possible necessity of additional safety
equipment.
The applicable rules and regulations may vary.
• A boat should not be operated by an individual while
under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Factors which might affect the applicable rules and
regulations include the following: the place of the boat’s
operation and the require-ments of local authorities; the use
of the boat; the time of day; the conditions under which the
boat is being operated; and the size, speed, course, kind of
boat (power, oars, etc.) and mode of operation.
In conjunction with knowing and following the applicable
laws, please note the following:
• Each occupant of a boat should wear the appropriate
clothing and have access to an approved life-jacket or
personal flotation device.

• Weight must be distributed evenly.
If lightly loaded and your boat is equipped with a motor do
not accelerate suddenly. Stability and handling problems
can occur if the operator mishandles the craft.
• The carrying capacity and the engine capacity for the boat
must not be exceeded.
SAFETY (CONTINUED)
• Outboard motors are dangerous and can cause injury and
death when improperly operated. Never equip or operate
your boat with a motor that is not approved for use with
the boat. Never approach at speed a swimmer in the
water or allow a swimmer to approach the stern of the
boat while the engine is running.
• Due attention should be given to winds and tides, their
changeability and their effect on fuel consumption.
Beware of offshore winds and currents.
• When boating is unknown water it is always a wise
precaution to obtain local knowledge before setting out.
• The display of navigation lights may be required. The user
should ensure that a boat should not be operated during
darkness or other hazardous weather conditions unless
the correct navigational lighting has been fitted and is
operating properly.
• Safety courses on boat handling are available in most
countries from national or local organisations. Operators
should make themselves aware of the general rules of the
waterways and local water conditions before taking a boat
out.
• On extended voyages due consideration must be given to
safety equipment such as flares, first aid kit, anchors, etc.
• Always tell someone your time and place of departure,
proposed route and time you expect to return.

SÉCURITÉ
Celui qui est aux commandes du bateau est tenu de
connaître toutes les lois qui s’appliquent à un bateau et de se

le pilotage du bateau.
• Chaque personne dans le bateau doit porter ou avoir à sa
disposition, des vêtements appropriés ainsi qu’un gilet de
sauvetage approuvé ou un dispositif de flottaison
personnel.
Les régles et réglementations applicables peuvent varier.
• Tous les équipements nécessaires doivent être à bord, et
la possibilité de la nécessité d’équipements de sécurité
supplémentaires doit être prise en considération.
Les facteurs suivants pourront influencer les règles et
réglementations applicables: le lieu d’utilisation du bateau, et
les exigences des autorités locales; l’utilisation du bateau;
l’heure; les conditions dans lesquelles le bateau est exploité;

• Ne pas utiliser un bateau lorsqu’on a pris certains
médicaments ou de l’alcool.
• Le poids doit être réparti régulièrement. Lorsque la charge
du canot n’est pas importante, ne pas accélérer
brusquement. Les problèmes de stabilité et de maniabilité
peuvent se produire lorsque celui qui est aux commandes
manoeuvre mal le bateau.
SÉCURITÉ (SUITE)
• La capacité de charge et la capacité du moteur du canot
ne doivent pas être dépassées.
• Un moteur hors-bord peut être extrêmement dangereux,
et peut causer des blessures ou la mort lorsqu’il est mal
utilisé. N’équipez jamais votre bateau d’un moteur horsbord qui n’est pas approuvé pour ce bateau. Ne vous
approchez jamais à grande vitesse d’un baigneur qui se
trouve dans l’eau, et ne laissez jamais un baigneur
s’approcher de l’arrière de votre bateau lorsque le moteur
est en marche.
• Avertissez toujours quelqu’un de l’heure de votre départ,
de l’endroit d’où vous partez, de l’itinéraire que vous avez
prévu, et de l’heure à laquelle vous comptez rentrer.
• Il sera peut-être nécessaire d’utiliser des feux de position.
L’utilisateur doit s’assurer qu’aucun bateau n’est utilisé
lorsqu’il fait nuit ou par mauvais temps, si les feux de
position corrects n’ont pas été installés ou ne fonctionnent
pas correctement.
• Tenez compte des vents et des marées, de leur
changement et de leur effet sur la consommation de

Faktoren abhängen: der Ort, an dem das Boot gefahren wird,
und die Vorschriften der örtlichen Behörden; der
Verwendungszweck des Boots; die Tageszeit; die
Bedingungen, unter denen das Boot gefahren wird, sowie
Größe, Geschwindigkeit, Kurs, Bootstyp (Leistung, Ruder
usw.) und Fahrweise.
In Verbindung mit der Kenntnis und Einhaltung der geltenden
Gesetze ist folgendes zu beachten:
• Alle Passagiere eines Boots sollten geeignete Kleidung
tragen und Zugang zu einer zugelassenen Schwimmweste haben.

• Sie sollten sicherstellen, daß sich die gesamte
erforderliche Ausrüstung an Bord des Boots befindet, und
wissen, ob möglicherweise zusätzliche Sicherheitsgegenstände erforderlich sind.
• Ein Boot sollte nicht von einer Person gefahren werden,
die unter Drogen- oder Alkoholeinfluß steht.
• Das Gewicht muß gleichmäßig verteilt werden. Bei
leichter Beladung und wenn das Boot mit einem Motor
ausgerüstet ist, nicht plötzlich beschleunigen. Wenn der
Bootsführer das Boot nicht richtig handhabt, kann es zu
Stabilitätsund Steuerproblemen kommen.
• Zuladung und max. Motorisierung des Boots dürfen nicht
überschritten werden.
SICHERHEIT (FORTSETZUNG)
• Der Einsatz von Positionslichtern kann erforderlich sein.
Der Benutzer sollte sicherstellen, daß das Boot nicht in
der Dunkelheit oder bei anderen gefährlichen
Wetterbedingungen verwendet wird, es sei denn, die
korrekten Positionslichter wurden angebracht und
funktionieren richtig.
• Außenbordmotoren sind gefährlich und können zu
Verletzungen und Tod führen, wenn sie nicht richtig
bedient werden. Das Boot darf nicht mit einem Motor
ausgerüstet oder gefahren werden, der nicht zur
Verwendung in dem Boot zugelassen ist. Begeben Sie
sich niemals in die Nähe eines Schwimmers im Wasser
und erlauben Sie keinem Schwimmer, sich dem Heck des
Boots zu nähern, während der Motor läuft.
• Die Wind- und Gezeitenverhältnisse, ihre Veränderlichkeit
und ihr Einfluß auf den Kraftstoffverbrauch sind in
gebührlichem Maße zu beachten. Vorsicht vor
ablandigem Wind und Strömungen.
• Bei Bootsfahrten in unbekannten Gewässern ist es immer
ratsam, vor Beginn der Fahrt an einheimischer Stelle
Auskunft einzuholen.
• Hinterlassen Sie stets eine Nachricht, wann und von wo
Sie abgefahren sind, wohin Sie fahren und wann Sie
voraussichtlich zurückkehren werden.
• Sicherheitskurse über Bootssteuerung sowie amtlich
anerkannte Sportbootführerscheine werden in den
meisten Ländern von nationalen oder örtlichen
Organisationen abgehalten. Der Bootsführer sollte sich
mit den allgemeinen Schiffahrtsregeln und den örtlichen
Gewässerbedingungen bekannt machen, bevor er mit
einem Boot fährt.
• Für längere Fahrten sollten auf jeden Fall
Sicherheitsgegenstände wie Leuchtkugeln, Erste-HilfeAusrüstung, Anker usw. mitgenommen werden.

estabilidad y maniobrabilidad si la persona que gobierna
hace una falsa maniobra.
Además de conocer los reglamentos aplicables y cumplir con
los mismos, le rogamos que tome nota de lo siguiente:
• No se debe exceder de la capacidad de transporte y de la
potencia recomendada del motor.
• Cada ocupante del barco debe Ilevar la vestimenta
apropiada y tener acceso a un chaleco salvavidas o a un
dispositivo de flotación personal aprobados.

• Los motores fueraborda son peligrosos y pueden
provocar lesiones o la muerte si no se operan
debidamente. Nunca equipe o maneje el barco con un
motor que no esté aprobado para uso con su barco.
Nunca se aproxime con velocidad a un bañista, ni permita
que un bañista se aproxime a la popa del barco mientras
el motor está funcionando.
• Deberá prestarse especial atención a los vientos y
mareas, a su variabilidad y a su efecto sobre el consumo
de combustible. Tener cuidado de los vientos y corrientes
de costa afuera.
• Cuando se navega en aguas desconocidas se debe ser
precavido y adquirir conocimiento de la zona antes de
partir.
• Es posible que se requiera el uso de luces de navegación.
Si es así, no debe utilizarse la embarcación salvo que se
hayan instalado las luces de navegación y verificado que
funcionen correctamente.
• En la mayoría de países hay organismos nacionales o
locales que imparten cursos de seguridad sobre manejo
de embarcaciones.
La persona que maneja un barco debe conocer las
normas generales de las aguas navegables y el estado
del mar en la zona antes de zarpar.
• En travesías largas, debe darse la debida importancia a
los equipos de seguridad tales como cohetes paracaídas,
bengalas, botiquín de primeros auxilios, anclas, etc.
• Indique siempre a alguien su hora y lugar de partida, la
ruta propuesta y la hora a la que espera regresar.

Buoyancy Tube
The buoyancy tube of your boat is manufactured from
material which requires very little maintenance. Wash the
boat regularly using soapy water and hose down to remove
sand, etc. from the floor hinges.
Stubborn marks may be cleaned using a small amount of
petroleum based solvent and then washed as above.
Tubes
Les tubes de votre bateau sont réalisés dans un
matériau qui ne nécessite pratiquement pas d’entretien.
Lavez régulièrement votre bateau à l’eau savonneuse et
passez-le au jet pour retirer le sable, etc. logé dans les

DEFLATION & STOWAGE
DEGONFLAGE ET RANGEMENT
If the boat is to be stowed away for more than a few weeks
always wash off any salt water and allow the boat to dry
thoroughly before deflating.

1. Deflate main buoyancy chambers, leaving keel inflated (if
fitted).

2. If floorboards are fitted remove by lifting the assembly at
the joint between the main deck and the bowboard. Deflate
keel ensuring all valves are closed and caps replaced.
