Dear Parents
To help enhance and stimulate learning in Science and Geography we have arranged a joint field trip for years 6
and 7 to the beautiful National Park of La Pedriza on Monday 13th (6K, 7B), Wednesday 15th (6M, 7J) and Friday
17th October (6S, 7M).
Learning Objectives for the trip:
From a scientific perspective, year 7 will be carrying out a variety of practical observations relating to the unit
on variation and classification; we will then use various sampling methods to collect living Organisms. Also, we
will be considering the abiotic and biotic factors in different habitats.
From a geographical perspective year 6 will be investigating rivers, weathering, erosion and tourism in a
National Park environment, whilst enhancing their map skills, sampling, observation and teamwork techniques.
What the children are required to wear and bring:

Layered clothing to prevent overheating: - T-shirt, sweatshirt, jumper, raincoat, light trousers or
tracksuit bottoms (no jeans) and small backpack to carry lunch, snack, spare clothes and learning materials (pen
and pencil).

Footwear: as part of the various field studies we will be hiking approximately 6km across varying terrain
so children will need to wear trainers or trekking boots/shoes that are preferably waterproof and give good
grip and support to the ankles.

A healthy snack and a drink preferably in a screw top plastic bottle.
Outline for the day
Children will come to school dressed in the above, have registration as normal and meet on the patio to collect a
packed lunch and their learning materials for the day. We will be leaving school at 10am and returning by 4pm.
For your child to participate in the field trip you will need to sign and return the consent form below to
reception by Friday 3rd October.

Estimados padres,
Para mejorar y estimular el aprendizaje de Ciencias y Geografía, hemos organizado una excursión conjunta para
years 6 y 7 al parque nacional de La Pedriza el lunes día 13 (6K, 7B), miércoles día 15 (6M, 7J) y viernes día 17
de octubre (6S, 7M).
Objetivos del viaje:
Desde el punto de vista científica, los alumnos de year 7 llevarán a cabo una variedad de observaciones practicas
relacionadas con el tema de Variación y Clasificación; luego usaremos distintos métodos de toma de muestras
para coger organismos vivos. También consideraremos los factores abióticos y bióticos de los distintos hábitats.
Desde el punto de vista geográfico, los alumnos de year 6 investigarán los ríos, el clima, la erosión y el turismo
en el ambiente de un parque nacional mientras que mejoran las técnicas de mapa, toma de muestras, observación
y trabajo en equipo.
Lo que deben ponerse y traerse:

Ropa en capas para evitar el sobrecalentamiento: Camiseta, sudadera, jersey, impermeable, pantalón
ligero o parte baja de chándal (vaqueros no) y una pequeña mochila para llevar la comida, un snack, ropa de
repuesto, bolígrafo y lápiz.

Calzado: Se hará una caminata de aproximadamente 6km sobre terreno variado por lo que deben llevar
botas de andar o zapatillas preferiblemente impermeables, que tengan buena tracción y que protejan
adecuadamente el tobillo.

Un snack saludable y una bebida preferiblemente en una botella con cierre de rosca.
El día
Los alumnos deben acudir al colegio vestidos como se describe arriba, se registrarán como normalmente y se
reunirán en el patio para recoger el picnic y los materiales de aprendizaje. Saldremos del colegio a las 10.00 am
y volveremos a las 4.00 pm.
Para que su hijo participe, es necesario que usted rellene el formulario abajo y que lo devuelva a la recepción del
colegio antes del Viernes día 3 de octubre.
