Dear Parents/ Guardians: The first day of school

Dear Parents/ Guardians:
The first day of school for the 2016-17 school year is Tuesday, August 9th. At Uplift, we believe that
every school day is important and that attendance on the first day of school sets the tone for the entire
school year. Uplift has a “First Day of School” policy in place to encourage all families to make sure their
scholar is present and ready to learn on August 9. Specifically, a scholar’s enrollment is at risk if he/she
is not in attendance on the First Day of School. If your child will not be in attendance for the first day of
school, you must have contacted the school director prior to the first day of school or you must contact
the school prior to noon on the first day of school, Tuesday, August 9. If the school director determines
that the reason for your child not being present meets the definition of an excused absence, your child
will be allowed to enroll after the first day of school. Acceptable reasons for absence are noted in the
student handbook policy [The full policy is posted on the Uplift website.] The policy applies to all
scholars, new and returning.

school and the important message it sends to your child that learning time is valued.

El primer día para el año escolar 2016-17 es el 9 de agosto del 2016. En Uplift, nosotros creemos que
cada día escolar es importante y la asistencia en el primer día de escuela establece el tono para todo el
año escolar. Uplift tiene una política de “Primer Día de Escuela” para animar a todas las familias, de
asegurarse de que su alumno esté presente y listo para aprender el 9 de agosto. Específicamente, la
inscripción de un alumno está en riesgo si él/ella no está en asistencia el primer día de clases. Si su
hijo/a no estará presente para el primer día de clases, usted debe haber contactado al director de la
escuela antes del primer día de clases o debe comunicarse con la escuela antes del mediodía del primer
día de clases, el martes, 9 de agosto. Si el director de la escuela determina que la razón de que su hijo no
está presente cumple con la definición de una ausencia justificada, a su hijo se le permitirá inscribirse
después del primer día de clases. Las razones aceptables para la ausencia son anotadas en la política del
