FIRST THINGS FIRST- Volunteer appreciation party!!! Thank you, staff, for the
wonderful TOGOs party and homemade tea bag and honey gifts. We love them!
Next up, RAFFLE TIME! For every meeting everyone has attended, they have received a
ticket. All were put into one drawing for a wonderful gift basket put together by Kelly G.,
Elizabeth B., Liisi W., and Chrissy M. After 6 draws to pull a ticket of someone who was
actually there, Chrissy Mello was the winner and received the prize that included
homemade items, gift cards, chocolates, and wine. Thank you for volunteering with us!!!
II.
Review Spring Fair Parade
a. Waivers- online or blanket for the year? Alexis says online is very much possible! We
can have them at back to school night. Tisha says having a blanket waiver for all
school events that parents sign at the beginning of the year is a great idea. Kelly will
draft one up and send to Tisha. May possibly be sent with new parent handbooks
then parents will just have to RSVP for the event and we can cut back on paper waste.
b. Comments- Tisha suggests possibly having class turnout contests where the class with
the most attendees will win a free dress day. Kelly also suggested popcorn party.
III.
Pork Loin Drive-Thru Dinner
a. Reps need to emphasize how important parent volunteers are for these shiftsPossibly do a second round of phone calls when the date gets closer to fill the empty
spots. Personal contact and encouragement to go might also help.
b. How can we improve parent turn out/ticket sales? Jarrett suggested, and most in
attendance agreed, that shorter shifts may increase turn out. It was also suggested
that teachers be issued tickets to buy or sell. Jen (FGVC) said that they have always
been free to ask for tickets to participate in the sales.
IV.
Next year’s PC RepresentativesLiason- Usually new liasons are chosen during teacher in-service. Kelly asked who we are
supposed to use over the summer. Jarrett volunteered but also suggested that maybe we
choose a new liason during teacher out-service so that the PC Chair and liason can
become acquainted and get things in order for the upcoming year during the summer.
Tisha will consider this. Out-service happens the week after school gets out.
Chair- Kelly Gregg
Co Chair- Chrissy Mello Jarrett suggested that the Chair and Co-Chair not hold other class
rep titles. Kelly said, “In a perfect world… but, yes, that is the ultimate goal.” For now
both Kelly and Chrissy will cover 1st and 2nd grad rep positions until another consistent,
organized parent steps up to join us.
Kinder- Stacy McDonald, possibly Malory (incoming kinder parent) Stacy will work closely
with Malory to ensure she understands everything that is expected of her
1st Grade- Chrissy Mello (NEED ALTERNATE) repeat rep –will train alternate when one
volunteers (Possible Elizabeth Biehl- if she is still in LB next school year)
2nd Grade- Kelly Gregg (NEED ALTERNATE) repeat rep –will train alternate when one
volunteers
3rd Grade- Montse Alfaro, Carolina R. Montse will work closely with Carolina to ensure
proper communication with their class
4th Grade- Ann Pavao, Ramon McDonald, Irene Rollins Ramon will work closely will Ann to
learn the position of class rep and Ann will ensure that all questions are answered and the
job gets done
5th Grade- (NEED REPRESENTATIVE) Kelly will contact Mrs. Sanchez to get suggestions of
parents that would be a good fit for this position. Ann suggested that her sister would be
interested if she gets into the school for next year. She is currently on the waiting list
6th Grade- Kirstin Scorsur (NEED ALTERNATE) repeat rep –will train alternate when one
volunteers
7th Grade- Wendy Freitas (NEED ALTERNATE) Kelly will ensure that all of Wendy’s
questions are answered and will continue to recruit possible alternates
ELAC- Tisha suggested having an ELAC-PC rep. We did try to secure one this year to help
bridge the gap of communication between us and the Spanish speaking community. It
didn’t happen this year but Tisha will help facilitate finding someone interested in this
position for next year.
Kelly also mentioned that she will, if all things work out, attend all classes’ first parent
meetings to try to recruit individuals to the GVC-PC. We will also set up a table at the
Back-to-School Night with information for all parents to browse.
A less busy schedule of events may help with finding parents more willing to join. Jarrett
and Kelly have worked on cutting back and refining the calendar for next year and Tisha
has approved most dates. There a few details to work out and then a master calendar can
be put together. Jarrett is working on a master calendar for the entire school and Kirstin
volunteered to help put a yearly 1 page calendar together for the whole school to be
passed out in the first family folder. Ann suggested sending home a calendar printed
month by month in the family folder. Kelly mentioned that we would just need to get
copies funded and she would volunteer to get this together to help keep all parents up to
date. Ann suggested the first week of the month, but looking back the last week of the
month might be better for the following month so parents are aware of the important
meetings that happen during that first week of each month.
We also discussed possibly moving the PC meetings to the first Wednesday of each month
to streamline FGVC/GVC-PC/FPS Meetings and possibly increase attendance.
Kelly announced that she is planning a PC PAINT NIGHT to happen during the summer
months. Funds raised will be to benefit GVC/PC and is proposed to be open to all ages.
BYO beverage/appetizer. Proposed $20 per person ($5 to cost and $15 to PC from every
ticket) Attendees gave positive feedback.
a. We will have a separate meeting as soon as possible to discuss Rep responsibilities and to go over the bylaws.
Communication procedures will be discussed and confidentiality agreements for the 2016-2017 year will need to

be signed by all reps. This meeting will be for reps and alternates only and will take place after school is out for
the summer. Date to be determined.

May 18- Campus Clean-up –last for the year
May 18- Teacher App. Lunch- We’re covered! Adriana R., Bianca G., Chrissy M., Maria T.,
Kelly G., Victoria D., Montse A., Michelle P., and at least one more mom (Lisa M.)! Thank
you!!!
May 26- Time Capsules Date has been moved to June 1st and Tisha has agreed to organize
a special assembly during school hours for all students to be present to fill their box.
May 27- Place flags on veteran’s headstones at 3pm in cavalry section of LB Cemetery for
Memorial Day for upcoming Memorial Day Ceremony- optional- not a school event Just
kidding- it is a school event because we are using the GVC name. All students are
welcome to come. Must arrange for own ride to the LB Cemetery and waivers will be
available at the kindergarten house, GVC office, and available from Kelly the day of the
event at the LB Cemetery. Information will go out about this event in next week’s family
folders but no waivers will be sent home.

Lo primero es lo primero. La fiesta en agradecimiento a los voluntarios!!! Gracias al personal por la
fiesta de TOGOs y por las bolsas hechas en casa y los regalos de miel. Nos encantó! Lo siguiente,
tiempo de la rifa! A todos los que hayan asistido a una junta, ya deben haber recibido un boleto.
Todos se pusieron en un sorteo de una canasta de regalo maravilloso elaborado por Kelly G,
Elizabeth B., Liisi W, y Chrissy M. Después de sacar 6 boletos para encontrar a alguien que estuviera
presente, Chrissy Mello fue la ganadora y recibio el premio que incluye artículos hechos en casa,
tarjetas de regalo, y vino. Gracias por ser voluntario con nosotros.
Repaso del desfile de la feria de la Primavera
a. Exención- en linea o una exención general para el año. Alexis dijo que en linea es muy possible!
Los podemos tener disponibles en la noche de regreso a la escuela. Tisha dijo que teniendo esta
exención general para todos los eventos que se puede firmar por los padres al principio del año
escolar es una idea estupenda. Kelly va hacer una y se la mandará a Tisha. Posiblemente se
mandara con el nuevo manual para los padres. Entonces los padres sólo tendrán que hacer sus
reservaciones para el evento y podemos recortar el gasto de papel.
b. Comentarios- Tisha sugirió posiblemente tener concursos de atendencia donde el salón que
tenga más atendencia ganará un día que no se tienen que poner su uniforme--“free dress day.”
Kelly también sugirió una fiesta con palomitas.
Cena de Lomo de cerdo
a. Los representantes necesitan enfatizar lo importante que son los padres que son voluntarios
para los turnos. Posiblemente hacer una segunda ronda de llamadas telefónicas cuando se
aproxima la fecha para llenar los espacios vacíos. El contacto personal y el estímulo para ir
también podría ayudar.
b. Como podemos mejorar la atendencia de los padres/ venta de boletos? Jarrett sugirió y todos
los que estaban presentes estuvieron de acuerdo que si los turnos fueran más cotos, tal vez
aumentaría la participación. También se sugirió que los maestros también se les de boletos para
comprar o vender. Jen (FGVC) dijo que siempre han tenido la oportunidad de pedir boletos para
participar en las ventas.
Representantes de PC para el año próximo
Representativo de enlace (liason). Usualmente, los nuevos enlaces se escojen durante la semana de
preparación. Kelly preguntó que si quien deben usar como enlace este verano. Jarrett se ofreció
como voluntaria pero también sugerió que se escoja la persona que va ser enlace durante la semana
que se culmina el año escolar. Así durante el verano, el presidente del comité y el enlace se pueden
conoser y poner cosas en orden para el próximo año. Tisha lo considera. La semana de resumen
“out of service” se lleva acabo la semana después que termina la escuela.

Vice Presidente- Chrissy Mello. Jarrett sugirió qu el Presidente y vice-Presidente no obtengan otros
puestos. Kelly dijo, “en un mundo ideal…pero, si, esa sería la meta.” Por ahora las dos Kelly Gregg y
Chrissy cubrirán la posision como representantes de primer y segundo grado. Hasta que otro de los
padres que sean organizados y consistentes decidan unirse con nosotros.
Kinder- Stacy Mc Donald posiblemente Malory (próximo padre de Kinder). Stacy trabajara junto con
Malory para asegurar que ella entienda todo lo que se espera de ella.
Primer grado- Chrissy Mello (necesitará alternativo) entrenará al alternative cuando haya un
voluntario (posiblemente Elizabeth Biehl- si todavia está en Los Baños el próximo año).
Segundo grado- Kelly Gregg (necesitará alternativo) entrenará al alternative cuando haya un
voluntario.
Tercer grado- Montse Alfaro, Carolina R. Montse trabajará junto con Carolina para asegurarse una
comunicación adecuada con su clase.
Cuarto grado- Ann Pavao, Ramon McDonald, Irene Rollins. Ramon trabajará junto con Ann para
aprender la posicón de representante del salón y Ann se asegurará que todas las preguntas sean
contestadas y que el trabajo se complete.
Quinto grado- (necesitará alternativo) Kelly se pondrá en contacto con la señora Sanchez para
obtener sugerencias de padres que serían un buen ajuste para esta posición. Ann sugirió que su
hermana estaría interesada si la aceptan a la escuela para este próximo año. Ella se encuentra
actualmente en la lista de espera.
Sexto grado- Kirstin Scorsur (necesitará alternativo) ella entrenará al alternativo cuando haya un
voluntario.
Séptimo grado- Wendy Freitas (necesitará alternativo) Kelly asegurará que todas las preguntas de
Wendy sean contestadas y continuará en recultar posibles alternativos.
ELAC- Tisha sugirió tener un ELAC- PC representante. Nosotros tratamos de encontrar una persona
este año para ayudar con la traducción o comunicación entre nosotros y la comunidad de habla
hispana. No sucedió este año pero Tisha ayudará en facilitar la búsqueda de alguien interesado en
este puesto para el próximo año.
Kelly también mencionó que ella, si todo sale bien, piensa asistir a la primera reunión de padres de
todas las clases para tartar de reclutar a individuos para GVC-PC. Nosotros también preparamos una
mesa en la “Back to School Night” con la información para que los padres vean.
Un horario menos ocupado de eventos puede ayudar a encontrar a los padres más dispuestos a
unirse. Jarrett y Kelly han trabajado en recortar y refinar el calendario del próximo año. Tisha a
aprovado la mayoría de las fechas. Ay unos pequeños detalles en que trabajar y después un
calendario maestro se puede poner. Jarrett está trabajando en un calendario maestro para toda la
escuela y Kirstin se ofreció como voluntaria para ayudar a poner un calendario annual de una página
para toda la escuela que se repartirá en la primera carpeta de familia. Ann sugirió enviar a casa cada
mes una copia del calendario mes por mes en la carpeta de familia. Kelly mencionó que solo
tendríamos que encontrar quien pague por las copias y ella se ofrecío como voluntaria para
mantener a los padres informados. Conseguir esto juntos para ayudar a mantener a todos los

padres al tanto. Ann sugirió la primer semana del mes, pero mirando hacia atrás, la última semana
del mes puede ser major el siguiente mes, así los padres estan concientes de las reuniones
importantes que pasan durante la primera semana cada mes.
También discutimos de posiblemente mover la reunion de PC al primer miércoles de cada mes para
agilizar FGVC/GVC – PC/FPS juntas y posiblemente aumentar la asistencia.
Kelly anunció que está planeando una PC noche de pintar que sucederá durante el verano. Los
fondos recaudados serán para beneficiar GVC/PC y se a propuesto que esté disponible a todas las
edades. Traiga su bebida y su aperitivo. Se propuso $20 por persona ($5 para cubrir el gasto y $15
de ganancia para PC de cada boleto). Asistentes dieron comentarios positivos.

representantes y los alternativos y llevará acabo en el verano ya que se haya terminado el
año escolar. La fecha está por ser determinada.

18 de mayo- Día de limpieza en la escuela- la última del año

26 mayo – Cápsula del tiempo. Jarrett se lo llevará a la facultad para sugerir que lo agan durante la escuela en
un asamblea especial. La fecha sugerida es el primero de Junio. Lo finalizaremos el miércoles en la junta de la
facultad.
27 de mayo- Poner las banderas en las lápidas de los veteranos a las 3pm en la sección del calvario de Los Banos
para el día conmemorativo para la próxima ceremonia del día conmemorativo. Opcional- no es evento de la
escuela. Solo es una broma. Si es evento de la escuela porque estamos usando el nombre de GVC. Todos los

estudiantes son bienvenidos. Deben encontrar su propia transportación hasta el cementerio de LB y las
exenciones estarán disponibles en el salón de Kindergarten, oficina de GVC, y disponibles por Kelly el día del
evento en el cemeterio de LB. La información se mandara sobre este evento en las carpetas de familia de la
próxima semana. Pero las exenciones no se mandarán a las casas.
