Information for Visiting Students
If you are a student at an accredited university, which does not have a formal exchange
agreement with ITAM, it is still possible to be accepted as a “visiting”non-degree student
for one or two terms of study. Under this scheme, the student is allowed to take courses
and obtain academic credit and will be subject to the same privileges and responsibilities
as degree-seeking students but will not be eligible to receive an ITAM degree.
Application Process for visiting students
Students interested in studying at ITAM must submit the following documentation to the
Academic Exchange Department:
1. A certified copy of the grades received to date in the current program of study.
Students who have graduated from a program and wish to further studies at the
same level should submit the transcript of the study program completed.
2. A letter from the home institution certifying that the student is considered to be
in good standing, has permission to study at ITAM and that the grades received will
be considered for credit towards the student’s current degree program.
3. A letter of recommendation from a professor of the home institution.
4. A statement of purpose from the student requesting admission to ITAM under the
status of visiting student.
5. The appropriate information or application form to be requested from the
Academic Exchange Department.
The Academic Exchange Department will submit this documentation to the appropriate
academic department or program, requesting admission. If approved, the student must
agree to the following:
1. To adhere to the ITAM rules and regulations.
2. Pay an admission fee of U$500 and the cost of tuition for enrollment in a minimum
of 24 credits per semester program, or 132 trimester hours for trimester graduate
programs, along with any required fee payments, including ID card, applicable
activity fees, copyright charges, etc. Prior to enrollment, the student must pay the
US$500 admission fee, along with approximately 30% of the total tuition to
confirm his or her place at ITAM. The remainder of the payment must be made at
the end of the first month of enrollment.
3. Submit proof of adequate medical insurance, including repatriation coverage.
4. To obtain the appropriate visa for study in Mexico and submit all necessary
documentation to the local Mexican Immigration authorities within 30 days of
arrival, if needed.
The Academic Exchange Office will issue and send the acceptance letter and assist the
student with all enrollment procedures for his or her subjects. For any further

Información para estudiantes visitantes
Si es estudiante de una Universidad acreditada que no tiene un convenio formal de intercambio
con el ITAM, es posible aceptarlo como alumno visitante por uno o dos semestres académicos sin
posibilidad de obtener un título de esta institución. Bajo estos términos el alumno puede tomar
cursos y obtener créditos académicos estando sujeto a los mismos privilegios y responsabilidades
que los estudiantes regulares.
Proceso de aplicación
Los estudiantes interesados en estudiar en el ITAM deben proporcionar la siguiente
documentación al Departamento de Intercambio Académico:
1. Una copia certificada de las calificaciones obtenidas a la fecha en el correspondiente
programa de estudio.
Los estudiantes que ya se hayan titulado de algún programa y quieran continuar estudiando
al mismo nivel de estudios, deben entregar el historial completo de dicho programa.
2. Una carta de su universidad de origen que avale que el estudiante está calificado para ir de
intercambio y que a la vez se le otorga el permiso para estudiar en el ITAM.
3. Una carta de recomendación de un profesor de su universidad de origen.
4. Una carta de motivos del alumno solicitando su admisión al ITAM en calidad de alumno
visitante.
5. El formato de Aplicación proporcionado por el Departamento de Intercambio Académico
debidamente llenado.
Los documentos arriba mencionados serán recibidos y canalizados al departamento académico
correspondiente solicitando la aceptación del alumno. De ser aprobado, el alumno deberá
comprometerse a lo siguiente:
1. Acatar las reglas y reglamentos del ITAM.
2. Pagar al inicio del semestre una cuota de admisión de lo correspondiente a $500 USD así
como el 30% de los costos de la colegiatura. El 70% restante deberá ser devengado a lo
largo del semestre hasta pagar el 100% de la misma.
Es necesario inscribir al menos 4 materias por semestre, es decir al menos 24 créditos
para los programas de licenciatura y al menos 132 horas por trimestre para los programas
de maestría.
Adicionalmente se deben cubrir otras cuotas como son el costo de la credencial y
derechos de autor.
3. Entregar comprobante de seguro médico adecuado, que incluya cobertura de repatriación.
4. Obtener una visa de estudios para México, y entregar toda la documentación pertinente a
las autoridades de migración durante los primeros 30 días a partir de la llegada, de ser
necesario.
El Departamento de Intercambio Académico emitirá y enviará la carta de aceptación al alumno
y le brindará ayuda en el proceso de inscripción de las materias.
