THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT
FEBRUARY 28TH 2016
T he Pastor’s Corner
My dear Parishioners,
This coming weekend may well be the highpoint of Lent for
many of us, considering the fact that our Holy Father Francis
has asked Catholics throughout the world to observe “24
Hours for the Lord” on March 4th and 5th, a very special
time to concentrate on our need for God’s mercy and, in
turn, our need to extend mercy to others. These two days
serve as a prelude to our Sunday Liturgy when we will once
again listen to the parable of the Prodigal Son, the image of
every repentant sinner caught up in the loving embrace of a
merciful God.
I encourage you to spend some time here at the church during these two special days either in quiet prayer before the
Blessed Sacrament enthroned, by participating in the Stations of the Cross on Friday or the Holy Hour of Reparation
on Saturday. Please note that the Communal Penance Service on Saturday will serve as our parish’s Lenten Communal Celebration of that Sacrament. (Fr. Alberto and I are
always available for confession on weekends and by appointment,) Our “24 Hours for the Lord” will begin with the
noon Mass on First Friday and end with the 4:30 Mass on
Saturday afternoon. The full schedule may be found in today’s bulletin insert.

PRIMER DOMINGO DE CUARESMA
14 DE FEBRERO, 2016
TERCER DOMINGO DE CUARESMA
¡Bienvenidos a San Pablo de la
Cruz!

The Catholic Relief
