NOTE: Check ALL parts for shipping damage. If shipping damage is noted, DO NOT use. Contact carrier/dealer for further instruction.
DEALER: These instructions MUST be given to the user of this product.
NOTE: There are a number of different nebulizers. The types described below function in much the same way.
• Reusable - Designed to be used for six months. While some disposable nebulizers can be used more than once with
proper cleaning, they are not the same as “reusable” devices.
• Disposable - Designed for use for a shorter period of time, such as 2 weeks. When using a “disposable” nebulizer, it is
recommended that an extra nebulizer be kept at all times.

DO NOT use this product or any available optional equipment without first completely reading and understanding
these instructions and any additional instructional material such as owner’s manuals, service manuals or instruction
sheets supplied with this product or optional equipment. If you are unable to understand the warnings, cautions or
instructions, contact a healthcare professional, dealer or technical personnel before attempting to use this equipment
- otherwise, injury or damage may occur.
ACCESSORIES WARNING
Invacare products are specifically designed and manufactured for use in conjunction with Invacare accessories.
Accessories designed by other manufacturers have not been tested by Invacare and are not recommended for use
with Invacare products.

Setup
NOTE: Clean the nebulizer and mouthpiece before using the device
for the first time. Refer to Cleaning on page 2.
NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 1.
1. Gently twist the nebulizer to separate it into two sections.
NOTE: Be sure the pick-up funnel is in place in the bottom section of
the nebulizer.
Eyedropper

CAUTION
DO NOT add over six ml of medication to the
medication cup. The maximum capacity of the nebulizer
medication cup is six ml.

Add the prescribed amount of medication to the
nebulizer cup using an eyedropper, pre-measured dose
or ampoule (FIGURE 1).
Gently twist the top and bottom sections together to
assemble the nebulizer. Be sure that the two sections fit
securely.
Attach the mouthpiece to the top section of the nebulizer.
Replace and tighten the caps on the medication.

Treatment Instructions
NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 2.
1. Attach one end of the air tubing to the air tubing
connector located on the front of the compressor.
2. Attach the other end of the air tubing to the base of a
nebulizer that is readied for a treatment.
3. Turn compressor on, by pressing the ON/OFF switch to
the “ l ” position.
4. Place the mouthpiece between your teeth, close your
mouth and tilt the nebulizer toward your mouth
(FIGURE 2).
5. As aerosol begins to flow, inhale deeply, slowly and hold
your breath for ten seconds. Then exhale slowly through
the mouthpiece.
NOTE: If you need to rest during a treatment, place the nebulizer on
the nebulizer parking post located on the air compressor.
6. When treatment is complete, turn the compressor off by
setting the switch to the “O” position and unplug the
compressor from the electrical outlet.

Nebulizer
Cleaning
Following the cleaning instructions after each use will prevent any remaining medication in the nebulizer from drying and
causing the device to nebulize ineffectively.
WARNING
To prevent possible risk of infection due to contamination, follow these instructions:
• Clean the nebulizer before initial operations.
• Clean the nebulizer after each aerosol treatment.
• ALWAYS use fresh cleaning solution.
• DO NOT towel dry the nebulizer components after cleaning.
NOTE: Your physician and/or an Invacare dealer may specify certain cleaning procedures. If so, follow their recommendations. If not, clean
according to the following instructions:
1. Fill two plastic containers or bowls, one for washing and the other for soaking:
A. Washing: Hot water/detergent solution.
B. Soaking: Hot water/vinegar solution (one part vinegar to three parts water).
2. Remove the nebulizer and mouthpiece from the tubing.
3. Disassemble the nebulizer chamber by turning counterclockwise and separating.
4. Thoroughly wash the nebulizer and mouthpiece in hot water/detergent solution.
5. Rinse the nebulizer and mouthpiece with clear hot tap water.
6. Soak the nebulizer and mouthpiece in the hot water/vinegar solution for 30 minutes.
7. Rinse with hot tap water and allow pieces to air dry completely.
NOTE: If using medical disinfectant cleaners, follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.
NOTE: Keep the outer surface of the air tubing dust-free by wiping regularly.
NOTE: The nebulizer air tubing does not have to be washed internally because only filtered air passes through the tubing.
Cleaning the Mouthpiece

Boil the mouthpiece in water for a maximum of five minutes or autoclave at a maximum of 121°C for ten minutes.
Allow the mouthpiece to air dry completely.
Nebulizer Replacement
The nebulizer is designed for single patient use.
The nebulizer MUST be replaced after a long period of inactivity or when it is obstructed by dry medication, dust, etc.
The reusable nebulizer should last from six months to one year with general use. The disposable nebulizer should last
30 days. For the nebulizer that is disposable, it is recommended that an extra nebulizer be kept at all times.

• Descartable: diseñado para ser utilizado por un período de tiempo más breve, tal como 2 semanas. Al utilizar un nebulizador
“descartable”, se recomienda conservar un nebulizador adicional en todo momento.

Utilice un gotero, ampolla o dosificador para introducir la
cantidad indicada de medicamento en la taza del
nebulizador (FIGURE 1).
Gire suavemente las secciones superior e inferior para
ensamblar el nebulizador. Controle que queden firmes.
Anexe la boquilla a la parte superior del nebulizador.
Vuelva a colocar y ajuste las tapas del medicamento.

Instrucciones de tratamiento
NOTA: Para esta procedimiento, consulte a FIGURE 2.
1. Una un extremo de la manguera de aire con el conector
ubicado en el frente del compresor.
2. Conecte el otro extremo de la manguera de aire a la base
del nebulizador preparado para el tratamiento.
3. Encienda el compresor, presionando el interruptor de
ENCENDIDO/APAGADO en la posición “ I ”.
4. Coloque la boquilla entre los dientes, cierre la boca e
incline el nebulizador hacia la boca. (FIGURE 2).
5. A medida que fluya el aerosol, inhale suave y
profundamente y contenga la respiración durante 10
segundos. A continuación, exhale lentamente por la
boquilla.
NOTA: Si necesita descansar durante el tratamiento, coloque el
nebulizador en el lugar para el nebulizador localizado sobre el
compresor.
6. Una vez que ha finalizado el tratamiento, apague el
compresor colocando el interruptor en la posición “O” y
desenchufe el compresor del tomacorrientes.

Nebulizador
Limpieza
Si se siguen las instrucciones de limpieza después de cada uso se evitará que quede algún resto seco de medicamento en la
taza del nebulizador y que el dispositivo pudiera nebulizar en forma ineficaz.
ADVERTENCIA
Para prevenir posibles riesgos de infección debidos a contaminación, siga estas instrucciones:
• Limpie el nebulizador antes de utilizarlo.
• Limpie el nebulizador después de cada tratamiento.
• SIEMPRE use soluciones de limpieza nuevas.
• NO utilice un paño para secar los componentes del nebulizador después de limpiarlos.
NOTA: Es posible que su médico y/o el distribuidor de los productos Invacare le indiquen un procedimiento de limpieza específico. Si es
así, siga sus recomendaciones. De lo contrario, siga las instrucciones que se mencionan a continuación:
1. Llene dos contenedores o tazones de plástico, uno para lavar y otro para remojar:
A. Lavado: utilice una solución de agua caliente y detergente.
B. Enjuague: utilice una solución de agua caliente y vinagre (una [1] parte de vinagre por cada tres [3] partes de agua).
2. Retire el nebulizador y la boquilla de la manguera.
3. Abra la cámara del nebulizador realizando un giro en sentido antihorario.
4. Lave cuidadosamente el nebulizador y la boquilla en una solución de agua caliente/detergente.
5. Enjuague el nebulizador y la boquilla con agua limpia y caliente de la canilla.
6. Deje en remojo el nebulizador y la boquilla en una solución de agua caliente/vinagre por 30 minutos.
7. Enjuague con agua caliente de la canilla y deje secar las piezas al aire por completo.
NOTA: Si utiliza un desinfectante medicinal, siga detenidamente las instrucciones del fabricante.
NOTA: Mantenga la superficie externa de la manguera de aire libre de polvo limpiándola regularmente con un paño.
NOTA: Los tubos de aire del nebulizador no requieren lavado interno porque solamente aire filtrado pasa por los tubos.
Limpieza de la boquilla

Hierva la boquilla en agua durante un máximo de cinco (5) minutos o esterilice con un autoclave a un máximo de
121° C durante diez (10) minutos.
Permita que la boquilla se seque al aire por completo.
Reemplace el nebulizador
El nebulizador debe ser utilizado por un único paciente.
El nebulizador debe reemplazarse luego de largos períodos de inactividad o en caso de obstruirse con medicación seca,
polvo u otros elementos. Si se lo somete a un uso normal, el nebulizador reutilizable tiene una vida útil de seis (6) meses
a un (1) año. El nebulizador descartable tiene una vida útil de 30 días. En el caso de los nebulizadores desechables, se
recomienda tener un nebulizador adicional en caso de una emergencia.
