PROGRAMME AND COURSE CONTENTS COURSE: ENGLISH – CAMBRIDGE EXAM PREPARATION Level Entry Requirements CAE - Student has passed and certified Level C1.1 or PRE-CAE at CSIM or has an official document grading them as having completed C1.1 - Student has tested at Level C1.2 in a recent placement test at CSIM Type Hours Credits Certificate Summer 20 per week 2 ECTS Level C1.2 CSIM Coordinador: Richard Griffiths Amy Wallace Caroline Bunce csim@rect.ucm.es Course Outline: CAE is a 60-hr intensive summer course with 20 hours of tasks to be done outside class, in which the 5 main language skills are consolidated and practised: (1) Oral expression (speaking) (2) Oral interaction (conversation) (3) Listening comprehension (4) Reading comprehension (5) Writing Grammar review and vocabulary acquisition are also an important part of the course. Regular attendance and the active participation for the full duration of the course are necessary to achieve full competence at this level. Objectives: This course is aimed at people thinking of taking the CAE exam in the autumn 2016 window. To that end, students are prepared not only in the linguistic elements required to pass the exam but also in ‘exam technique’. Students will be prepared for all papers of the exam and have the opportunity to practise the speaking part of the exam. Advice will also be given on how to manage your time in all papers. Students are free to do the exam with the centre of their choice and we will help you with the necessary information in order for you to be able to take the exam on the most convenient date, and at the most convenient venue, for each student.
