During his fellowship at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, he studied under the guidance of Louis Quilico. As a member of the San Francisco Opera’s Merola Opera and Adler Fellowship program, he received lessons from Regine Crespin and Dame Joan Sutherland. Mr. Gama has been awarded with the Mexican National Arts and Culture Award, one of the most coveted prizes in his country. He made his professional debut with the Mexican National Opera Company of Bellas Artes singing the role of Belcore in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore in 1995. Since then, Mr. Gama has appeared singing many of the principal baritone roles of the lyric repertoire, including: Zurga in Bizet’s Pecheurs de Perles, Sharpless in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Frank in Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, Le Geolier in Poulenc’s Dialogues de Carmelites, Starek in Leos Janáscek, The Seven Baritone main roles in Britten’s Death in Venice, Michele and Schicchi in Puccini’s Il Tabarro, and Gianni Schicchi, Sulpice in Donizetti’s La Fille du Régiment, and many more. During his fellowship with the San Francisco Opera Company, Mr. Gama sang roles such as King Thoas in Gluck’s Iphigenie en Tauride, Alfonso in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, Shaunard and Marcello in Puccini’s La Bohéme, Don Ferdinand in Prokofiev’s Betrothal in a Monastery, Dancairo in Bizet’s Carmen, Alidoro in Rossini’s La Cenerentola. Other roles in his repertoire include, Malatesta in Donizetti’s Don Pasquele, Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen, Tobbia Mill In Rossini’s La Cambiale di Matrimonio, Coppelius, Dappertutto, Dr. Miracle and Lindorff in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Anselmo in Moncayo’s La mulata de Córdoba, Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoore, Figaro and Count Almaviva in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. His recordings include works as Seneca in Marcela Rodríguez’s opera Seneca or Nothing is of our own, Anselmo in Moncayo’s La Mulata de Córdoba, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Mozart’s Requiem with the Oakland Symphony Orchestra, and the Spanish version on Disney’s animated movies as Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin lending his voice to Gaston and Jaffar respectively. Danach war er Schüler beim puertoricanischen Bariton Carlos Serrano und beim italienischen-kanadischen Bariton Louis Quilico während seines Aufenthaltes als Stipendiat an der Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. Er war an der Merola Opera Studion in San Franciso, Kalifornien, unter anderen zusammen mit Regine Crespin und Joan Sutherland. Sein berufliches Debüt gab er mit der Compañía Nacional de Ópera de Bellas Artes als Belcore in der Produktion L`Elisir d`Amore de G. Donizetti im Jahre 1995. In Fort Worth, Texas mit der Forth Worth Opera Company interpretierte er Sharpless in Madama Butterfly von Puccini und Escamillo in Cermen de Bizet. Weiter Rollen in seinem Repertoire umfassen Tobbia Mill in La Cambiale di Matrimonio von G. Rossini, Lindorf, Coppelius, Dapertutto, Dr. Miracle in Les Contes d`Hoffmann von Jacques Offenbach, Anselmo in La Mulata de Córdoba von José Pablo Moncayo, Colás in Bastian und Bastianne von W. A.
