OPERA IN THE NEIGHBORHOODS
October 19, 2010
Dear Kingsley Families,
We are delighted to be bringing our 3rd through 5th grade students to the Opera in the
Neighborhoods production of “The Barber of Seville” this year! Here is the information
for the performance we will attend:
Venue:
Evanston Township High School
1600 Dodge Avenue, Evanston, IL
Date:
Monday, November 8, 2010
(permission slips for trip due November 1)
Time:
Depart from school at 11 a.m.
Return to school at 1:30 p.m.
Although Opera in the Neighborhoods is a free program, they suggest a donation of $60
per class in attendance. Our wonderful and amazing PTA has graciously offered to
assist in our transportation costs, however, which will allow us to keep the cost for this
field trip to $3 per student. If you would like to send more, please know that any money
above and beyond transportation costs will go to the Lyric Opera to help defray costs
for these programs, and toward helping scholarship students attend this production. If
you need scholarship assistance in order for your student to attend, please indicate this
on the permission slip form.
We will be preparing to attend this opera in music classes at the end of October and the
beginning of November. Attending live performances is a wonderful and crucial
component of a well-rounded musical education, and we’re excited to be attending this
professional show! If you’d like to find out more information on Opera in the
Neighborhoods or the production, you may visit their website at
www.lyricaopera.org\eduation.
Thank you so much for your support!
