PTO Membership ~ We are just $6,600 short of our
$60,000 goal for the annual T.H. Rogers PTO membership drive. Congratulations to the classes who
have already reached 100 percent: Ms. Methol, Rambert, Hilderman, Lambert, Prevot, Connors and Porterie! .... Some
other classes are very close. Ms. Jabri needs ONE more member
and Ms. Vashisht is two away! Ms. Rayner, Ms. Bowen, Ms.
Doyle, and Ms. Efstratiou are all three members away. Ms. Osborne needs four more. Sign up ASAP please at throgers.org.
We will do the final class tallies on Oct. 14. If you would like to
increase your family’s donation to reach a higher
membership level, please make an additional donation at throgers.com. We will add them together for

Fall Carnival ~ POKÉMON CARNIVAL is coming
to T.H. Rogers on Saturday, October 8th, 11am3pm! Confetti Eggs, Rock Wall. Video Games,
Camel Rides, Dunking Booth & MORE! There will
also be a Pokémon Costume Contest! You can
sign up to volunteer or purchase online at www.throgers.org, or
turn in the paper forms to your homeroom teacher.

Volleyball ~ Both the 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams
won their games handily against Revere MS on Monday. Way to go Lady Rams! Cross Country ~ Boys:
Our 8th grade boys came out in 6th place at the HISD
Invitational last Saturday at Herman Brown Park. Leading the way
for the Rams were Pramit De, Ben Aceituj, Miles McKenzie, Andrew Chen, Matthew Jimenez, and Joel Ramirez. Hopefully with
some key people back for this coming Zone meet, we can do a lot
better! Our 7th grade boys came out in 2nd place in HISD showing a
great performance by everyone. Leading the way for
the Rams and winning the whole 7th grade boys meet
was Shrikar Thangavel!! Carlos Gonzalez was 3rd
place and other top runners were Asad Ahmad, Kai
Canivel, Bruce Le, and Khodai Fujimoto!

BAT WATCHING ~ Did you know that Houston has
its own bat colony in the heart of the city? Almost
300,000 bats live under the Buffalo Bayou Bridge at
Waugh Drive, and they come out every night at
dusk. Join the PTO for an evening of Bat Watching
Friday, October 14th at 7:00 pm. Visit www.throgers.org for

FYI ~ La re-apertura de la biblioteca de Jungman
Neighborhood, en la zona del Gallería, será el jueves,
13 de octubre de 10-11:30am. Venga a ver la nueva
arquitectura, la última tecnología y mejorado espacios
para todas las edades, mientras disfruta y saborea unas pequeñas
golocinas y bebidas proporcionados por su favorito, restaurantes locales: 5830 Westheimer Rd.
Voleibol ~ Los dos los equipos 7 y 8 grado de voleibol ganaron sus partidos cómodamente contra Revere Secundaria el
lunes. ¡buen trabajo! Carreras y Caminatas ~ Los Muchachos: de 8º grado nuestros muchachos de 8º grado obtuvieron el 6º lugar en el encuentro del sábado pasado en Herman Brown
Park. Liderando el camino para los Rams fueron Pramit De, Ben Aceituj,
Millas McKenzie, Andrew Chen, Mateo Jiménez y Joel Ramirez. Espero
que con la ayuda de algunas estudiantes claves para este próximo encuentro, podemos hacerlo mucho mejor! 7º grado nuestros muchachos de 7º grado obtuvieron el segundo lugar en HISD
mostrando un gran rendimiento por parte de todos. Estos
fueron los estudiantes lideres Shrikar Thangavel!! Carlos
González obtuvo el 3er lugar y otros corredores fueron
Asad Ahmad, Kai Carnaval, Bruce Le y Khodai Fujimoto!

OBSERVACION DE MURCIELAGOS ~ ¿Usted sabía
que Houston tiene su propia colonia de murciélagos en
el corazón de la ciudad? Casi 300.000 murciélagos viven bajo el Puente de Buffalo Bayou en Waugh Drive, y

As a 7th grade student at ___T.H. Rogers___ Middle School, your student will be
engaged in completing activities that help support college and career interests.
Below are some of the activities your student will complete over the course of this
school year. We ask that you also become involved in this process to help students
develop a sound plan for a successful future!
 College and Career Readiness: House Bill 18 is a Texas law that requires school
districts to provide instruction to middle school students on the creation of an
Endorsement-Personal Graduation Plan, the Distinguished Level of
Achievement graduation plan, Endorsements choices, College Readiness
Standards and potential Career Choices and required the Education needed to
enter their field of choice.
 Naviance: Naviance is an online comprehensive college and career planning tool
that may be accessed through any computer with internet.
 Students in 7th grade are required to complete the Cluster Finder in Naviance,
which helps students identify what career clusters might be a good match for
them based in their personal interests and strengths. Deadline is Friday
November 18, 2016
 The campus will share your student’s results once students have completed the
Cluster Finder.
 Students may access Naviance at http://connection.naviance.com/hisdrogers and log into their school account.
