MINUTES
CALL TO ORDER
This meeting was called to order by Ms. Carolina Howard.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Minutes from the meeting in February were presented. Felipe de la Peña motioned to approve the minutes
and Petra Cardenas seconded it. Minutes were approved.
PUBLIC ADDRESS
There were no public comments at this meeting.
SCHOOL REPORTS
Alfonso Denegri, Kathy Melanese and Bryan Vine reported on their school’s current activities.
COMMUNICATIONS
OLIVEWOOD GARDENS: Ms. Diana Bergmann shared that the purpose of Olivewood Gardens is to build
healthy families and a healthy environment. She went over the various programs that are offered to the
parents and students of National City. She invited parents to get involved. Parents can get more information
on their website olivewoodgardens.org.
LOCAL CONTROL ACCOUNTABILITY PLAN (LCAP): Ms. Beverly Hayes gave a brief report on the progress of
LCAP. Parents then shared their ideas in a group activity. The information was prioritized and collected to
share with the LCAP committee.
PRESCHOOL – Preschool parents were discussing how important it is for parents to be involved in their
children’s school activities. We brainstormed different ways to increase parent engagement. One reason
mentioned for the lack of parent support is that some parents may not be receiving enough information to
attend meetings such as DAC. Another possible reason that was shared was that it could also be due to the
time some meetings are held.
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Ms. Beverly Hayes presented a prize to Las Palmas for having the most parents in attendance. She then
distributed prizes and thanked everyone for attending.

INICIO DE LA JUNTA
La Sra. Carolina Howard dio inicio a la junta.
APROBACIÓN DEL ACTA
Se presentó el acta de la junta de febrero. Felipe de la Pena hizo la moción para aprobarla y Petra Cárdenas lo
secundó. El acta fue aprobada.
COMENTARIOS DEL PÚBLICO
Esta vez no hubo comentarios por parte del público.
REPORTES ESCOLARES
Alfonso Denegri, Kathy Melanese y Bryan Vine reportaron las actividades actuales de su escuela.
COMUNICACIONES
OLIVEWOOD GARDENS: La Sra. Diana Bergmann compartió que el propósito de Olivewood Gardens es de
construir familias saludables y un ambiente saludable. Explico sobre varios programas que son ofrecidos a los
padres y estudiantes de National City. Invito a los padres a envolverse. Padres pueden recibir más información
en el sitio de Internet de olivewoodgardens.org.
Plan de Control local y Rendimiento de Cuentas (LCAP): La Sra. Beverly Hayes dio un reporte breve en el
progreso del LCAP. Padres después compartieron sus ideas en una actividad de grupo. La información fue
puesta en prioridad y rejuntada para ser compartida con el comité de LCAP.
Pre-escolar: Los padres del pre-escolar discutieron como es importante para los padres el envolverse en las
actividades de sus niños. Discutieron diferentes maneras de aumentar el compromiso de los padres. Una
razón que fue dada para la falta de apoyo de los padres es que algunos padres no están recibiendo suficiente
información para asistir a las juntas como DAC. Otra posible razón que se compartió fue que puede ser el
horario de las juntas.
ANUNCIOS GENERALES
La Sra. Beverly Hayes entregó un premio a la escuela Las Palmas por tener la mayoría de padres presentes en
esta junta. Después ella repartió premios y agradeció a todos por asistir.
