Who We Are: Established in 1981, City Council appoints nine (9) volunteer women Commissioners who live in Santa Monica to serve a 4 year term. Individuals appointed represent various segments of the City’s population. Appointments to the Commission are made throughout the year as vacancies occur. All appointments are voted on by City Council during a Council Meeting after reviewing applications and hearing recommendations from current Commissioners .
