Olson!… Father Tom has chosen
to celebrate his First Mass of
Thanksgiving here at Saint
Columbkille Church (his adopted
parish) on this Sunday, May 22,
at the 5 pm Mass. All ar e invited to attend the Mass and come to
a light reception in the school dining hall at which
time Father Tom will be available to give his “First
Blessing” to anyone present. Please come and join us
in this wonderful celebration!

Homecoming Event will be

with the 4:00 pm Mass followed by a tour and reception

celebrate St. Columbkille School’s 115th Birthday.
Mary Battles has been a life-long member of St.
Columbkille Parish. She attended St Columbkille
School for grades 1 through 12 and is celebrating her
50th anniversary this year as a member of the Jubilee Class of 1966. Mary has dedicated her life to
serving the St. Columbkille School community. For
more than 40 years she has served as an Administrator, Principal, Educator, Coach, Mentor and friend to
thousands. Mary’s contribution to St. Columbkille
School is immeasurable and all are forever grateful.
Mary is the first honoree of the newly established
Annual Alumni Scholarship. Please consider making
a donation towards the 1st Annual Alumni Scholarship. All money raised will be awarded to a deserving Saint Columbkille Partnership School student(s)

YAC Spring Bible study, Tuesdays beginning
5/10 Join fellow young adults in their 20s and 30s
for Bible study series on the Book of James. We will
reflect on James' teachings and seek to mature our
faith in Christ through our discussion. We will meet
on Tuesdays May 24, May 31 and June 7 at 7:30
p.m., in the Lower Church. Please bring a Bible (we

Memorial Day Service at
Evergreen Cemetery will
be at 11:00 am on Monday,
May 30th to remember all
veterans, especially the men
and women from Allston and
Brighton who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of our country. Prayers
will also be offered for those currently serving overseas, for their safety and safe return. The celebrant will
be Msgr. James P. Moroney, rector of St. John’s Seminary. Service will be held rain or shine with refreshments following the service.

The next Monthly Mass for the Sick, sponsored by
the Faith-Based Cancer Support Group of Sacred Heart
and Our Lady Help of Christians Church, will be
on Monday, May 23, 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady’s
Church. Msgr. Dennis Sheehan will celebr ate the
Mass and Anointing of the Sick. Following refreshments, Msgr. Sheehan's topic will be “Reflections on
Lourdes." The evening is designed to bring joy, hope,
and peace to those who are affected by illness, including family and friends. The Mass and program will
both be held downstairs at Our Lady’s church, located
at 573 Washington Street in Newton. For questions or

Imagine lo siguiente: Es la mañana de Navidad y hay un

grandes misterios de las últimas semanas profundizar nuestra conciencia de la presencia y de la majestad de Dios en
nuestra vida. Si Dios es la meta, a continuación, medimos
todo lo que decimos y hacemos, cada elección y decisión,
por cómo nos afecta en la consecución de ese objetivo.
Cuanto más conscientes somos de Dios en nuestra vida, más
probable es que tomar decisiones que ayuden en lugar de
obstaculizar nuestra relación con él.
