“South/North (and between)” és un recorregut visual que recull diversos viatges als EE.UU en què el
fotògraf Bito Cels ens mostra una visió personal de dos punts concrets de la geografia Americana.
Del sud ens arriben imatges de la ciutat de New Orleans anys després del pas del Katrina. Tot intentant
trobar petites traces de l’huracà, el fotògraf acaba mostrant-nos els grans impactes que aquell fenomen
va provocar a la ciutat i que encara perduren.
El segon punt geogràfic ens situa al nord-est, on les imatges ens revelen un New York allunyat de la ciutat
atapeïda i icònica que tots coneixem, per mostrar-se’ns com una ciutat qualsevol dels EE.UU. Sorgida de
la mateixa ciutat, l’exposició també recupera una petita mostra del treball “Pedestrians”, que va obtenir
el primer premi dels visionats “Emergent Lleida” al 2009.
I entre el Sud i el Nord, unes poques imatges serviran de pont per mostrarnos escenes que ens
semblaran ja viscudes, perquè formen part de l’imaginari col·lectiu dels EE.UU. encara que mai hi haguem
posat un peu.
“South/North (and between)” és un recorregut - en el temps i l’espai - per la visió dels EE.UU. que tots
duem a dins.
Biografia
Bito Cels neix a Barcelona el 1976.
Es gradua en fotografia a l’Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya (IEFC) l’any 1997, posteriorment es llicencia
en Comunicació Audiovisual per la Universitat de Barcelona (UB) i obté un postgrau en fotoperiodisme per la
Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). L’any 2007 assisteix a diversos cursos a l’International Center of
Photography of New York (ICP).
A l’actualitat treballa com a fotògraf free-lance per a clients propis i per agències de comunicació i publicitat i ha
publicat reportatges en diversos mitjans (La Vanguardia, Cultura/s, Avui, Regio 7, Vogue,…). En la actualidad
resideix a Barcelona on hi duu a terme nous projectes fotogràfics.

"Sout/ North (and between)" es un recorrido visual que recoge varios viajes a los EE.UU en el que el
fotógrafo Bito Cels nos muestra una visión personal de dos puntos concretos de la geografía Americana.
Del sur nos llegan imágenes de la ciudad de New Orleans años después del paso del Katrina. Intentando
encontrar pequeñas trazas del huracán, el fotógrafo acaba mostrándonos los grandes impactos que ese
fenómeno provocó en la ciudad y que aún perduran .
El segundo punto geográfico nos sitúa en el noreste, donde las imágenes nos revelan un New York
alejado de la ciudad apretada y icónica que todos conocemos, para mostrarse como una ciudad
cualquiera de los EE.UU. Surgido de la misma ciudad, la exposición también recupera una pequeña
muestra del trabajo " Pedestrians" , que obtuvo el primer premio de los visionados " Emergent Lleida" en
2009 .
Y entre el Sur y el Norte, unas pocas imágenes servirán de puente para mostrarnos escenas que nos
parecerán ya vividas, porque forman parte del imaginario colectivo de los EE.UU. aunque nunca hayamos
puesto un pie allí.
"South/North (and between)" es un recorrido - en el tiempo y el espacio - por la visión de los EE.UU. que
todos llevamos dentro .
Biografia
Bito Cels nace en Barcelona en 1976.
Se gradúa en fotografía en el Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Cataluya ( IEFC ) en 1997, posteriormente se licencia
en Comunicación Audiovisual por la Universidad de Barcelona ( UB ) y obtiene un postgrado en fotoperiodismo por
la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona ( UAB ). En 2007 asiste a varios cursos en el International Center of
Photography of New York ( ICP ) .
En la actualidad trabaja como fotógrafo free-lance para clientes propios y para agencias de comunicación y
publicidad y ha publicado reportajes en diversos medios (La Vanguardia, Cultura/s , Avui, Regio 7 , Vogue , ... ) . En
la actualidad reside en Barcelona donde lleva a cabo nuevos proyectos fotográficos .

" Sout / North ( and between) " is a visual journey that includes several trips to the U.S. in which Bito Cels
photographer shows us a personal vision of two particular points in American geography.
South we get images of the city of New Orleans years after Katrina . Trying to find small traces of the
hurricane , the photographer just showing the great impact that this phenomenon resulted in the city
and that still survive.
The second geographical location places us in the Northeast, where the images show us a New York out
of the crowded city and iconic we all know , to be displayed as any city in the U.S. Emerging from the
same city , the exhibition also gets a small sample of work " Pedestrians ," which won the first prize of
the viewings " Emergent Lleida" in 2009.
And between the South and the North, few images will bridge scenes that seem to show us already
experienced , because they are part of the collective imagination of the U.S. although we have never set
foot there.
"South / North ( and between) " is a journey - in time and space - by the sight of U.S. in all of us .
Biography
Bito Cels was born in Barcelona in 1976.
He graduated in photography at the Institute of Photographic Studies of Catalunya ( IEFC ) in 1997, then graduated
in Communication Studies from the University of Barcelona (UB ) and obtained a postgraduate degree in photojournalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB ) . In 2007 attended several courses at the International Center of Photography of New York (ICP ) .
He currently works as a freelance photographer for his own clients and for advertising agencies and has published
articles in various media (La Vanguardia , Cultura/s , Avui , Regio 7, Vogue, ... ) . He currently resides in Barcelona
where he conducts new photo projects.
