NEW THIS YEAR: FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH FOR ALL STUDENTS
Dear Parent or Guardian,
We are committed to providing every student in our school community with the tools they need
to succeed, including nutritious meals. That’s why we’re excited to announce that HISD is able
to offer free lunch for all students at 166 schools in the district, including your campus, for the
2014-2015 school year through the new federal program, Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).
HISD has already offered free breakfast to all students since 2010. This push to expand the free
lunch program is just the latest step to ensure students are well nourished throughout the day.
The good news is that families will no longer have to fill out a free lunch application to receive a
free meal. However, we are asking families to fill out the CEP survey form that will be provided
in the packets sent home with your student during the first week of school. This form is
important to fill out and return because it will help your school get its fair share of state and
federal dollars.
Lastly, we ask that you help us ensure our meal program is successful by having your child
participate in school breakfast and lunch. Participation is important because:
Part of what makes a great school culture is everyone sharing the same meal together.
When all of our students are eating the same meals together, our cafeteria will become a place
to learn more about new foods together, make healthy choices, and fuel up for learning and
play.

Participating in school breakfast and lunch helps provide nutritious food for your children at
school so they can concentrate better and learn more, and saves you valuable time and money
at home.

LO NUEVO ESTE AÑO: DESAYUNOS Y ALMUERZOS GRATIS PARA TODOS
LOS ESTUDIANTES
Estimados padres o tutores,
Estamos comprometidos a brindar a cada estudiante de nuestra comunidad escolar las
herramientas que necesiten para tener éxito, incluyendo comidas nutritivas. Es por eso que estamos
muy contentos en anunciar que HISD ofrecerá almuerzos gratuitos para todos los estudiantes en
166 escuelas del distrito, incluyendo su escuela gracias al nuevo programa federal Community
Elegibility Provision CEP (Provisiones Elegibles para la Comunidad).
Desde 2010, HISD ofrece desayunos gratis a todos los estudiantes. Ahora se expande al ofrecer
