First, we’re going to start with a vocabulary builder. I want you to listen to the following words in Spanish and then the English translation. A few of them you should already know. Que significa ______________? – What does ____________ mean? Por ejemplo: Como se dice apple en español? – how do you say apple in Spanish? Que significa adios? – what does adios mean? OK, now we’re going to ask you some questions, and you have to give the answer before we do. Que significa baño? - Toilet Como se dice beer en español? - Cerveza Como se dice chair en español? – Silla Que significa sol? - Sun Que significa té - Tea Como se dice key en español? – llave Como se dice Bread en español? – pan Que significa Agua? - Water OK, muy bien. Next we are going to learn how to ask someone’s age. Cuantos años tienes? – How old are you (or, literally, how many years do you have) Tengo 32 años. – I’m 32 (or, literally, I have 32 years) Repite despues de mi – Cuantos años tienes, tengo 30 años, Cuantos años tienes, tengo 45 años. Muy bien. Now, answer the question. Cuantos años tienes? Now, remember, if you are 21, 31, or 41 etc. then you say: 31 años. But if you want to omit the años, you have to say treinta y uno. Por ejemplo: Cuantos años tienes? 31 Cuantos años tienes? Tengo 31 años. OK, excellent. Now, we are going to go shopping for some fruits and vegetables. If you have finished the written exercise, you should know the names of a number of fruits and vegetables.
