“When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in

in a loud voice and said, ‘Most blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb.” Luke 1: 41-42

GOSPEL MEDITATION
In today’s Gospel the people press John the Baptist for an answer.
“Who are you? … Are you the Prophet?” John answers that he is
not but that the Messiah was there and people did not recognize
him. What outward signs or actions show others clearly that you
follow Jesus, the Messiah?

WHAT IS A POSADA?
"According to tradition this commemorates the sad journey of Joseph
and Mary to Belem, it began to celebrate in Mexico since colonial
times .
According to traditional accounts, the repatriate Jose, accompanied by
his wife Maria, from the town of Nazareth in Belem to meet their tax
obligations. Nine days it took them to arrive at their destination. Upon
arrival, the Virgin was about to give birth to her son Jesus. Being rejected, they took refuge in a barn that kind people had offered. This
passage (now known as Las Posadas) is celebrated in several countries
of the Catholic world during previous nine days to Christmas Eve. "
"The piñata shaped star with seven peaks; each peak is a cardinal sin.
Must be broken with a stick, representing the strength of God within
someone, by trial and error and blindfolded, in representation of blind
faith in God. When broken, the fall of sweets and fruits represents the
rewards and gifts to overcome sin , received by all participants. "
