The conference partners also are honoring the 10th anniversary ICOFORT International Scientific Committee on Fortifications and Military Heritage along with ICOMOS International Council on Monuments and Sites celebrating their 50th anniversary. The joining of these three professional activities together along with the contributing interest from various educational institutions and research groups on Fortifications and Military Heritage and with the kind and generous support of numerous sponsors both private and public have made this event possible. JUSTIFICATION: These events promote the disclosure of information that demonstrate the works which have been produced and may serve as a basis for the rescue, conservation and enhancement, at the same time providing space for reflection and the exchange of information regarding research, analysis, Management, Sustainability, Tourism, Conservation and Interpretation of Fortifications and Military Heritage. BACKGROUND: In 1997 the Fort of San Juan de Ulua in the city of Veracruz, Mexico held the FORUM UNESCO Workshop/University and Heritage on Restoration Project Fortress of San Juan de Ulúa. These meetings focused and are a reflection on the importance of the Military Heritage of Veracruz. From that time to this day no other event of this type has taken place to show the activities and progress in research topics of military architecture has taken place in the last decade much less in the management of these areas. Researchers from various educational institutions and groups both domestic and foreign have continued to work on the subject and this is why this conference is showcasing the important research that sheds light on many of the unknown facts regarding the construction, history and management of the Fortifications and Military Heritage of Veracruz. THEMES: 1. Historical research and interpretation 2. Conservation, Materials, Rehabilitation and Re-Use 3. Management and Sustainable Development 4.
