Topographical Maps
Chile’s topographic maps are produced by the Instituto Geogràfico Militar, Nueve Santa Isabel 1640,
Santiago. The current series are at 1:50,000; 1:100,000; 1:250,000 (1945 and 1976 series); and
1:500,000. All the 1:500,000 sheets have been published and the 1976 1:250,000 series was due for
completion in 1988. This has contours at 50 or 100 metre intervals. The 1:50,000 series is well
advanced and available to the public.
