Larry Jacobs, director ejecutivo del
WCF presentó en Madrid el VI
Congreso Mundial de Familias a los
responsables de las entidades y
asociaciones cívicas españolas.
Jacobs destacó la presencia de
representantes de más de 60 países
en el WCF y confirmó que está
prevista la asistencia de 800
congresistas extranjeros y 1.200
españoles: «El WCF es un
acontecimiento único en el mundo
que en todos los países donde se ha
celebrado, marca un antes y un
después en la lucha por la defensa de
la familia natural. El VI Congreso
Mundial de Familias es como las
olimpiadas de la familia». Ignacio
Arsuaga, presidente de HazteOir.org y
director del VI Congreso Mundial de
Familias, explicó el programa
científico que ofrece el Congreso. Los
contenidos de esta área se
desarrollarán a través de tres mesas
redondas que tendrán lugar en el
salón plenario del Palacio de
Congresos y Exposiciones de Madrid,
con capacidad para 2.000 asistentes.

Jacobs highlighted the presence of
representatives from over 60 countries
and confirmed that 800 foreign and
1,200 Spanish participants are
expected to attend the Congress: "The
WCF is a unique event in the world in
all countries where it has been held,
marking a before and after in the
struggle to defend the natural family.
The Sixth World Congress of Families is
like the Olympics of the family.

explained the scientific program
offered by the Congress. The contents
of this area will be developed through
three roundtables to be held in the
plenary hall of the Palace of
Congresses and Exhibitions of Madrid,
accommodating 2,000 people.

¿Cuáles son los tres mitos sobre la superpoblación?
»
El primero es que el planeta es, o lo será pronto, un lugar donde habita demasiada gente. La verdadera amenaza
no es la “superpoblación”, sino la “despoblación”: Las poblaciones de los países desarrollados están estancadas o
en declive.
El segundo mito es que estamos peor ahora con más gente de lo que estábamos en décadas pasadas con menos.
La verdad es todo lo contrario: A medida que nuestros números han crecido, nuestra prosperidad se ha disparado.
El tercer mito es que los programas de control de la población, también conocidos como programas de
planificación familiar o los programas de salud reproductiva, benefician los objetivos demográficos. El hecho es
que estos programas dañan a las mujeres y matan, causando violaciones de los derechos humanos y socavando la
atención primaria sanitaria.
Explíquenos tres modos de combatir estos mitos
Para educar a los jóvenes (y a cualquier otro usuario de internet), hemos creado una serie de dibujos animados en
YouTube. Estos videos geek, descarados, ya han obtenido más de un millón de visitas hasta la fecha. Se puede ver
en Overpopulationisamyth.com. Míralos y luego pásenlos a sus amigos. Se van a cambiar corazones y mentes en
este tema.
Otra vía para desarmar estos mitos es tratar de que se reduzca la financiación a las organizaciones de control de la
población, como el Fondo de Población de las Naciones Unidas (UNFPA) y la International Planned Parenthood
Federation (IPPF). Hasta ahora, hemos reducido casi en mil millones de dólares sus presupuestos combinados. Esto
ha salvado vidas.
La tercera manera de combatir estos mitos anti-vida es dar charlas y organizar conferencias en todo el mundo.
¿Por qué cree que el WCF Madrid 2012 es importante?
Voy a ir a Madrid en mayo, porque creo que el WCF Madrid 2012 es el encuentro más importante del año, sin
excepción. Es importante no sólo para el futuro de España, sino también para Europa como un todo.
Como sabe, España está cometiendo una especie de suicidio demográfico a cámara lenta. Las tasas de natalidad
son demasiado bajas para mantener la población actual y no hay signos de recuperación. El mito de la
superpoblación sigue siendo frecuente y demasiados jóvenes creen que lo socialmente responsable es no tener
hijos. Los niños son el único futuro de una familia y el único futuro de una nación. Las parejas que están dispuestas
a casarse y están abiertos a tener muchos hijos son un tesoro nacional que debe ser protegido y fomentado. Voy a
Madrid para animar a los jóvenes: “sed fecundos y multiplicaos".

What are the 3 myths on overpopulation?
»
The first myth is that the planet is now, or will be soon, home to too many people. The real threat is not
“overpopulation”, but underpopulation: The populations of the developed nations today are static or declining.
The second myth is that we are worse off now with more people than we were in decades past with fewer. The
truth is just the opposite: As our numbers have grown, our prosperity has soared.
The third myth is that population control programs, also known as family planning programs or reproductive health
programs, somehow benefit their target populations. The fact is that such programs injure and kill women by
causing human rights abuses and undermining primary health care.
Tell us three ways to fight these myths
To educate the young (and anyone else who is Internet-savvy), we have created a series of YouTube cartoons.
These geeky, cheeky videos have garnered well over a million views to date. They can be seen at
Overpopulationisamyth.com. Watch them and then pass them along to your friends. They will change hearts and
minds on this issue.
Another way that we are fighting these myths is by cutting funding to population control organizations like the UN
Population Fund and the International Planned Parenthood Federation. To date, we have cut nearly one billion
dollars from their combined budgets. This has saved lives.
The final way that we fight these anti-life myths is by giving talks and organizing conferences all around the globe.
Why do you think WCF Madrid 2012 is important?
I will be coming to Madrid again in May because I think that WCF Madrid 2012 is the most important meeting of
the year, bar none. It is important not just for the future of Spain, but for Europe as a whole.
You see, Spain is committing a kind of slow demographic suicide. Birth rates are far too low to maintain the current
population, and are showing no signs of recovery. The myth of overpopulation is still prevalent, and far too many
young people believe that the socially responsible thing to do is not to have children.
The WCF will hopefully help to remind Spaniards of the importance of the natural family as the lifelong union of a
man and a woman through marriage, bound by faith and tradition, and open to having children. Children are the
only future a family has, and the only future a nation has. Those couples that are willing to marry and are open to
having many children are a national treasure, and should be protected and encouraged. I am coming to Madrid to
encourage young people to “Be fruitful and multiply”.

Bible, is working in Madrid since 1986.
Rocco Buttiglione, presidente del partido político
italiano UDC, defiende que la UE tenga en cuenta sus
raíces cristianas. Conocido por su compromiso con el
derecho a la vida y la familia.
Rocco Buttiglione, chairman of the Italian political
party UDC, argues that the EU must take its Christian
roots into account. Known for his commitment to the
family and to the right to life.

Lola Velarde es la vicepresidenta de la red europea del
Instituto de Política Familiar, una de las instituciones
más activas en defensa de la familia en España y en los
organismos internacionales (ONU, UE).
Lola Velarde is vice president of the European Network
of the Institute for Family Policies, one of the most
active institutions in defense of family in Spain and in
international organizations (UN, EU).

Dr. Nicolás Jouve es catedrático de Genética y
presidente de CÍVICA. Fue el primer firmante e
impulsor del “Manifiesto de Madrid”, un alegato
científico en contra del aborto (marzo de 2009).
Dr. Nicolás Jouve is professor of Genetics and
president of CÍVICA. He was the first signer and
promoter of the "Manifesto of Madrid", a scientific
argument against abortion (March 2009).

experiencia homosexual, salió de ella. Ahora está
casado, tiene 3 hijos, y dedica su vida a ayudar a otras
personas que han tenido su misma experiencia.

homosexual experience, he came out of it. He is now
married, has 3 children, and devotes his life to helping
others who have had the same experience.
Francisco J. Contreras. Catedrático de Filosofía del
Derecho, es autor de varios libros. Ha impartido
numerosas conferencias en España e intervenido
como ponente del European Ideas Network.
Francisco J. Contreras. Professor of the Philosophy of

Internacionales de Profesionales por la Ética,
coordinará el Foro Parlamentario en el marco
del Congreso Mundial de Familias (WCF).
Beyond the
Congress
Leonor Tamayo, Head of International
Relations of Professionals for Ethics, will
coordinate the Parliamentary Forum during
the World Congress of Families (WCF).
Según ha explicado Tamayo, el Foro «pretende
ser un encuentro multidisciplinar entre
representantes políticos y líderes de la sociedad
civil centrados en el estudio y defensa pública
de la familia; su objetivo es sumar esfuerzos
para lograr la reforma de todas aquellas
legislaciones que actualmente ataquen,
menosprecien, rechacen o menoscaben la
dignidad humana, la familia natural, la libertad
de educación y la defensa de la vida y propiciar
una mayor incidencia de estos valores en la
legislación y en los gobiernos. Todo ello desde
la colaboración entre sociedad, gobernantes y
legisladores, promoviendo una ciudadanía
activa y responsable».
As Tamayo explained, the Forum «aims to be
a multidisciplinary meeting between politicians
and civil society leaders focused on the study
and defense of the family: its goal is to add
efforts to achieve reform of all those laws that
are currently attacking, despise, reject or
undermine human dignity, the natural family,
freedom of education and defense of life and
foster a greater incidence of these values in
law and in government. All of this is viewed
from the perspective of collaboration between
society, governors and legislators and the
promotion of active and responsible citizenry».
El Foro Parlamentario estará presidido por los
eurodiputados Jaime Mayor Oreja y Anna
Záborská (Eslovaquia) así como por Lawrence
Jacobs, Director Ejecutivo del Congreso Mundial
de Familias.
The Parliamentary Forum will be
chaired by MePs Jaime Mayor Oreja (Spain),
and Anna Záborská (Slovakia) as well by
Lawrence Jacobs, Executive Director of the
World Congress of Families.
