As we listen to these A total of $5,100.00 was realized from An Evening in words, can we too come before the Lord Jesus and Paris !! This will be deposited in our New Church ask for mercy in our sinfulness? Building Fund! PASTOR’S PAGE Jubilee Year of Mercy November 20, 2016 Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe Jubilee Year Ends Today Luke, evangelist and by tradition artist, sends us forth from this Jubilee Year of Mercy with an unforgettable portrait of Christ the King. The setting for Jesus’ “royal portrait” is the cross. From this “throne,” the crucified “crown prince” welcomes by “executive pardon” the kingdom of mercy’s first citizen, a fellow criminal. The “Good Thief” requests neither deliverance nor salvation, or even forgiveness: “Remember me when . . .” (Luke 23:42). “Today you will be with me,” King Jesus promises, “in paradise.” (23:43). Paradise, even for non-believers, is an image of creation contentedly in harmony with self, fellow creatures, and Creator. Today, we “good thieves” beg Jesus to remember us. We promise to remember that, although Jesus’ kingdom will be fulfilled only when Jesus’ returns, that kingdom begins today in the paradise that will flower from this Jubilee Year of Mercy. We disciples, having been embraced unconditionally and undeservedly by Jesus’ mercy, must now go forth to embrace all others, unconditionally, with that same unfailing mercy. After all Masses on September 24 and 25, MHT Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) held small group conversations (Focus Groups) to give parishioners another opportunity to share what they believe is important for our parish. Four of the discussion questions and their most common answers were published in the bulletin over the last four weeks. Below is the last question posed to the focus groups and the most common answers given: Question #5: In what ways could senior citizens and young people be more fully integrated into the faith community of Most Holy Trinity? Have senior citizens involved in the sacramental ceremonies by distributing holy cards or being a prayer partner, etc. Continue to have the youth present and participating in all aspects of Mass. Be a welcoming Parish to all including parents with younger children. More visibility for the youth involved in sacraments so the Parish community can recognize those participating. Encourage youth and seniors to participate in all ministries “Spending time together doing a common task.”. The MHT Parish Pastoral Council would like to thank everyone who has participated in the pastoral planning process; in the focus groups which met in September or the morning of reflection which was held in June. Your input is invaluable in developing a vision for our Parish’s future. Please watch the bulletin for more updates as we continue on this journey. COMING SOON: the announcement of our new MHT Parish Vision Statement. The Ecumenical Community Meal ministry needs volunteers to help serve a meal to the community every Wednesday. Sponsored by MHT parish and served at the Mountainhome United Methodist Church on Route 390 in Mountainhome, seven teams of volunteers, serving in a weekly rotation, help bring nourishment and social interaction to all who come. The hot food is supplied by area restaurants and pizzerias. For over 5 years faithful volunteers have provided over 16,000 meals to anyone who came through our doors. Over the years we have seen the numbers of team members decreasing due to changes in their free time, residence relocation, health issues, etc. and we are now in need of some new people to join us. If you are interested and can attend one luncheon every 7 weeks, please consider helping with this worthwhile and rewarding ministry. To volunteer or for more information, please contact Madeleine Forssell at 570-595-6491.
