Saint John the Evangelist
“All men and women of good will are bound by the
task of pursuing peace!”
... We recall Pope Francis’ urgent call for peace,
“Today, dear brothers and sisters, I wish to add my
voice to the cry which rises up with increasing anguish from every part of the world, from every people, from the heart of each person, from the one
great family which is humanity: it is a cry for peace!
It is a cry which declares with force: we want a
peaceful world, we want to be men and women of
peace, and we want in our society, torn apart by divisions and conflict, for peace to break out! War
never again! Never again war! Peace is a precious
gift, which must be promoted and protected!” A
task for each of us, everyday!
... We cannot forget September 11, 2001, and the
total disregard for human life and the freedom of
peace loving people to go about our daily lives! A
time to pause, remember and appreciate!
… Please give generously to the special collection
today (7) for the humanitarian and pastoral needs
of the people of the Middle East as they strive to
regain their lives. All funds will be forwarded to
the Diocese and distributed under the auspices of
Catholic Relief Services (CRS).
… Belated congratulations to parishioners Vince
and Mary Ann McEveety on their 58th Wedding
Anniversary this past Monday (1).
... Cathedral Catholic High School is the venue for
our Diocesan Church Ministers Conference this
Saturday (13) from 9:00am to 3:30pm. All are
welcome. Over 75 workshops in both English and
Spanish, over 50 publishers, exhibits and vendors,
will all be there for us! Registration is $40.00 and
lunch is provided. For more info visit www.diocese

... Congratulations to Nicholas and Toni (nee
Menard) Bogajczyk on the baptism of their first
child, Harper Rose, here at Saint John, on Saturday
(23). Harper Rose is the grand-daughter to Patti
Menard, who ably led our Administrative Staff at
Saint John for many years.
... Patti’s husband, Paul, is a renowned Radio presenter, and is the ‘Irv Harrigan’ side of the famed
‘Charlie and Harrigan’ morning Radio show that
ran for many years on KCBQ and KFMB. ‘Charlie
and Harrigan’ have just been nominated to the National Radio Hall of Fame, and will be inducted in
Los Angeles on November 9. Congrats!
September 7, 2014

John School! Our Saint John School great website is

... Please be sure to enroll our children in the Religious Education experience appropriate to their
age. It is so important to continue to grow in the
understanding and appreciation of our faith. Registration is underway for all ages, and classes commence as early as Monday (22)!
... Here at Saint John, we are blessed with Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament, 24 hours, except during Sunday Masses. Come by and visit!
... Our Saint John Seniors gather on the third
Thursday of each month for a grand luncheon and
entertainment. Mass (optional) is at 11:00am, followed by a delicious Lunch at 12:00pm, and entertainment until about 1:15pm. Our next Mass and
Luncheon is on Thursday (18). It is always fun!

... Father Vincent Lorenz served as Associate Pastor, with Father Jeremiah Murphy, here at Saint
John in 1967. Monday (8) is the 6th Anniversary
of his death. May he rest in peace.
... Father Joseph celebrated the Memorial Mass
for Josephine Townsend on Monday (1). She was
101 years young, and is the mother of long time parishioner, Robert Budetti, of Bob and Karen fame.
May she rest in peace.
... Visiting with Father Brian for two weeks of rest
and relaxation, sunshine and shopping, is his
younger brother, Ben, and his wife, Betty, and their
daughter, Eilis, all from their home place in Drogheda. Ben and Betty graciously host Pat and Brian
on all their visits home! Failte!
... On December 8, we honor the Immaculate Conception of Mary, and so, on September 8, this Monday, we celebrate her birthday, the Nativity of the
Blessed Virgin Mary!
... “Wherever you see another, there I am!” Yes!

Saint John the Evangelist
