Pleasant Glade Elementary 5th & 6th Grade Leadership 1920 Abernethy Rd. NE Olympia, WA 98516 Phone: 360.412.4620 Fax: 360.412.4629 Dear Parent or Guardian: Your child has expressed an interest in participating in Leadership. This letter is to help you make an informed decision with your child to see if Leadership is the right choice for him/her. Leadership is a program open to 4 th and 55h grade students at Pleasant Glade. In the Spring we invite 3rd grade students to participate in the program. Our Leadership students help in a variety of ways, including recess, breakfast and lunch, after school and evening activities, just to name a few. Students in this program are required to show up every day at their assigned time. They wear an orange vest so other students will know that they are there to help. Leadership students must at all times show the qualities of a good leader, which include following adult directions, helping younger students, being flexible about when and where they are asked to participate, and being willing to give up some of their recess time to help others. Attached to this letter is the full list of expectations and an application for your child to complete. Please review this material with your child. After becoming a part of Leadership, if a student decides that it is not the right fit for them, they will be asked to complete a resignation form and participate for two weeks before quitting Leadership. This allows us time to find a student to replace them. We are looking forward to working with your child. If you have any questions about the Leadership program at Pleasant Glade, please contact either one of us at the school – 360.412.4620. Leadership is an opportunity to not only teach children responsibility, but to also give them a chance to show you what they are capable of doing.
