Dinosaur Discovery: Descubrimiento de los Dinosaurios How can we, as paleontologists, discover when and where dinosaurs lived? ¿Cómo podemos, como paleontólogos, aprender cuándo, dónde, y cómo vivían los dinosaurios? Kids of all ages are fascinated by dinosaurs. We will spend the month of June as paleontologists, learning how dinosaurs lived, what they ate, where they lived, how they survived (or didn’t) and why it is important to look to our past to gain knowledge and insights into the world around us. Students will collaborate on a school wide mural, which will demonstrate how dinosaurs may have lived. During our Dinosaur Discovery, students will: - Use scientific inquiry skills - Demonstrate knowledge of the Earth’s environment - Demonstrate geographic knowledge - Think symbolically - Remeber and connect experiences - Participate cooperatively and constructively in group situations - Recognize difference between living and non living things Vocabulario: los dinosaurios: dinosaurs el paleontólogo: paleontologist el fósil: fossil el hueso: bone el huevo: egg el esqueleto: skeleton las huellas: tracks la tierra: land la época: era año: year el periodo: period ciento: one hundred un mil: thousand tiempo: weather los dientes: teeth el cuello: neck afilado: sharp el nido: nest la garra: claw liviano/pesado: light/heavy herbívoro: herbivore extincto: extinct las piedras: rocks el volcán: volcano el lagarto: lizard el reptil: reptile las plantas: plants el carnívoro: carnivore el pájaro: bird las escamas: scales la pluma: feather grande/pequeño: big/little alto/bajo: tall/short volar: to fly buscar: to look for encontrar: to find comer: to eat sobrevivir: to survive imaginar: to imagine desaparecer: to disappear
