 PUBLICACIÓN DEL NÚMERO 36 DE SECUENCIAS (Maia Editores / UAM) Secuencias. Revista de Historia del Cine presenta su número 36 dedicado en exclusiva a “El Nuevo Bollywood”. Coordinado por Alberto Elena y Helio San Miguel, se trata de un número monográfico que incluye cinco artículos que abordan, desde perspectivas y metodologías diferentes, los cambios y vaivenes que han tenido lugar en el desarrollo de esta industria en las dos últimas décadas. “Bollywood: nuevos contextos y nuevos públicos” (Alberto Elena) revisa los éxitos de taquilla desde mediados de los 90 que renegocian creativamente la herencia del cine popular hindi y que configuran en su camino nuevos públicos y mecanismos de producción. Por su parte, Helio San Miguel realiza en “El eterno hechizo de Devdas” un análisis del influjo del mito de Devdas, sus múltiples adaptaciones cinematográficas desde 1917 y las nuevas versiones actualizadas del siglo XXI. Muy distinto es “Bollywood, de viaje por España”, donde Alejandra Val Cubero problematiza uno de los recientes proyectos transnacionales entre España y la India. En “Nacionalismo y globalización en el cine indio contemporáneo: la cuestión del desarrollo como seña de identidad”, Dipankar Gupta nos aproxima al componente nacionalista de nuevo cuño presente en el mercado cinematográfico indio. Por último, “Mímesis y recepción del cine de Bollywood en el ámbito audiovisual occidental. Entre la ironía orientalista y el compromiso transnacional” (Israel Roncero Villalón) explora las relaciones de contaminación entre occidente y el cine de Bollywood. Aparte de estos cinco artículos, la revista cuenta, como suele ser habitual, con una serie de reseñas bibliográficas y de DVDs y, en esta oportunidad, con una nota sobre la polémica que ha despertado la nueva versión de El viaje a la luna de Georges Méliès. El número será presentado en la Filmoteca Española, Cine Doré (C/Santa Isabel, 3), en Madrid el día 12 de julio a las 20:40 hs por los coordinadores del número, Alberto Elena (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid) y Helio San Miguel (The New School, Nueva York), y por el director de la revista Daniel Sánchez Salas. Coordinated by Alberto Elena and Helio San Miguel, it is a monographic number that includes five articles that deal with the changes that this industry have experienced in the last decades, from different perspectives and methodologies. “Bollywood: New Contexts and New Audiences” (Alberto Elena) examines the box office successes that, from the 1990s, have been creatively renegotiating the traditional Hindi cinema and, in doing so, have been configuring new audiences and production processes. Helio San Miguel, on the other hand, carries out in “The Eternal Spell of Devdas” an analysis of the influence of Devdas’ myth, its multiple cinematographic adaptations from 1917 and the various versions created in the 21st Century. Very different is “Bollywood: Traveling around Spain”, where Alejandra Val Cubero problematizes one of the recent transnational projects produced between Spain and India. In “Nationalism and Globalization in the Contemporary Indian Cinema: The Development Motif as an Identity Marker”, Dipankar Gupta unveils for us the new nationalist components that appear in the Indian cinematographic market. Lastly, in ‘Mimesis and Reception of the Bollywood Cinema in the Western Audiovisual Field: Between Orientalist Irony and Transnational Commitment’ (Israel Roncero Villalón) explores in what ways the West is contaminating the new Bollywood. In addition to these five articles, the journal has its regular sections of books and DVD’s reviews and a note on the new polemical version of The Trip to the Moon by Georges Méliès. The number will be presented by Alberto Elena (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid), and Helio San Miguel (School of Media Studies, The New School, Nueva York), co-­‐editors of this volume, and by the director of the journal Daniel Sánchez Salas (Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Madrid). The presentation will be followed by the projection of the film My name is Khan (2011) by Karan Johar.
