PRESS RELEASE TRECSA ENERGIZED FOUR NEW-POWER INFRASTRUCTURE IN GUATEMALA The subsidiary of Grupo Energía de Bogotá advances in its expansion plan and presents an overall project progress of 53% Bogotá, D.C., July 07th, 2015. Transportadora de Energía de Centroamérica S.A. (TRECSA), subsidiary of Grupo Energía de Bogotá, energized the substations: Transmission Line Morales-Panaluya 230 kV, Extension of Electrical Substation Panaluya 230kV, Morales Electrical Substation 230/69kV, the Electrical Substation Reactor Morales 30Mvar and the Bank of Autotransformers 150 MVA. These works are part of the Expansion Plan Energy Transport System (PET by its Spanish Acronym), which builds and operates TRECSA in Guatemala, in order that the country has an electrical service more economical, reliable and affordable. The progress in construction of the PET reaches 53% full, with 7 energized substations, 5 ready to energize and 7 under construction; 47% progress in construction of transmission lines, 81% of deeded ways of right and 100% of environmental licenses granted with respect to the current design adopted. Also, 94% of the equipment and supplies are already in Guatemala, which ensures the availability of supplies for the current fulfillment of the project. Once the PET concludes, a project considered vital for the development of Guatemala, more than 30 power plants will be connected to the new system, contributing to the diversification of the energy matrix and an estimated reduction of 25% in the electricity tariff, according to the authorities of the electricity sector in Guatemala. According to a recent study by Central American Business Intelligence –CABI-, a business of intelligence and economic, financial and socio-political consulting with experience in Guatemala and Central America, the finished PET will generate over 800 thousand new jobs, increasing citizens purchasing power in almost USD 100 per year and increasing 8.6% additional in the country's GDP in the first 12 years after its conclusion. Recently, CG-LA Infrastructure recognized PET as the "Project of the Year" in Employment Generation in Latin America and as the 24 infrastructure strategic project most important in Latin America, including more than 100 projects. With the new energy transport system, TRECSA consolidates its operation, contributing to an electrical service more economical, reliable and affordable for homes, businesses and industries in the country.
