Dear Parents,
McAllen ISD is offering 7th grade students the opportunity to participate in an Algebra I Pre-AP class
during the 2015-2016 school year. In order to be eligible for Algebra I Pre-AP, students will need to take
an 8th grade TEKS assessment on which they will need to meet a district standard. In addition, the
students’ STAAR performance will be used to determine eligibility.
This test will be administered at your child’s campus the week of May 11, 2015. This test will take 4
hours to complete. Please be aware that the student may take the eligibility test only once. There are no
retests. The tentative testing schedule is as follows:

Estimados padres de familia,
El distrito escolar de McAllen ISD le ofrece la oportunidad a sus estudiantes de 7o grado de tomar la clase
de Algebra I Pre-AP durante el ciclo escolar 2014-2015. Para ser elegibles para la clase de Algebra I PreAP, los estudiantes deberán tomar un examen de 8o grado en donde tendrán que demostrar conocimiento
de los objetivos estatales (TEKS) de dicho grado y cumplir con el estándar dictado por el distrito.
Además de esto, se tomará en cuenta su desempeño en el examen STAAR de Matemáticas.
El examen de 8o grado será administrado en la escuela de su hijo(a) la semana del 11 de mayo, 2015. El
examen durará 4 horas. Le informamos que este examen se puede tomar solamente una vez. No habrá
segundas oportunidades. El examen se administrará en las siguientes fechas tentativamente:
