RESOLUTION NO. 2016-01
RESOLUTION CALLING BOARD MEMBER ELECTION
WHEREAS, pursuant to A.R.S. Title 16 requires that certain steps be taken prior to holding a special
district election; and,
WHEREAS, in order to hold the periodic election for Board Members on November 8, 2016, it is
necessary that certain steps be taken.
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Directors of the Pinetop-Lakeside Sanitary District
that:
1.
A board member election will be held on November 8, 2016, for the purpose of
electing three (3) persons to be on the Board of Directors of the Pinetop-Lakeside
Sanitary District for a term of four (4) years. The election shall be held at the regular
polling places for the precincts contained within said District for County and State
General Elections, and the election officers shall be those specified for the General
election of even date, unless additional election officers are required or prescribed by
subsequent resolution of this body, not less than twenty (20) days prior to the
election.
2.
The District requests that the Navajo County Elections Department conduct the board
member election in conjunction with the general election on November 8, 2016. Said
board member election shall be held and conducted ballots and absentee ballots and
applications therefore shall be prepared, votes shall be canvassed and the returns shall
be made in accordance with the provisions of the Arizona Revised Statutes for
elections held by Special Districts.
3.
The polling places will open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. local time. However,
the qualified electors standing in line at 7:00 p.m., shall be entitled to vote.
4.
The form of the ballot shall be consistent with the form prescribed by the County and
the laws of the State of Arizona for the general election of even date, and shall state
the name of each candidate in the manner prescribed by law.

All Notices and Ballots used in these proceedings and this Resolution shall be
prepared in the English language and the Spanish language.

6.
No elector shall vote in this election unless the elector has been registered to vote as a
resident within the boundaries of the Pinetop-Lakeside Sanitary District prior to
midnight of the 29th day preceding the date of this election.
7.
A copy of this Resolution shall be sent to the County Board of Supervisors within ten
(10) days from the adoption hereof, and shall constitute notice of the forthcoming
election pursuant to A.R.S. Section 16-225 (C).
8.
The Call of Election attached as “Exhibit A” to this Resolution shall be published in
the Holbrook Tribune and/or the White Mountain Independent once a week during
the two (2) calendar weeks preceding ninety (90) days before the election and a
Notice of Election shall be published once per week, in the same newspaper during
the two (2) calendar weeks preceding twenty (20) days before the election. In such
second publications, the poll locations shall be identified.
9.
Nomination Petitions may be filed commencing July 11, 2016. The last day for filing
Nomination Petitions will be August 10, 2016, by 5:00 PM.
10.
The last day to register to Vote is October 10, 2016, Midnight.
11.
Not later than five (5) days prior to the election, the Board of Directors shall submit
an affidavit to the Board of Supervisors of Navajo County certifying compliance with
all applicable Federal and State Election laws.

2016 IN AND FOR THE PINETOP-LAKESIDE SANITARY DISTRICT OF NAVAJO COUNTY, ARIZONA.
THE ELECTION WILL BE HELD FOR THE FOLLOWING PURPOSE:

To fill the expired term for 3 position(s) on the District Board beginning January 1, 2017 and ending
December 31, 2020.
The last date to register to vote is October 10, 2016 at midnight.
Petitions must be filed between JULY 11, 2016 AND AUGUST 10, 2016, AT 5:00 PM with the Navajo County
Elections Department at the Navajo County Governmental Complex in Holbrook.
Early Ballots may be obtained by contacting the Navajo County Recorder’s Office at P.O. Box 668, Holbrook,
Arizona 86025 or (928) 524-4062; beginning August 7, 2016. WRITTEN OR VERBAL REQUESTS MUST BE
RECEIVED IN THE RECORDER’S OFFICE BY October 28, 2016 at 5:00 P.M. ARS 16-542E. EARLY
