El día 10 de marzo tendrá lugar una conferencia del Programa de Doctorado de la Facultad de
Derecho a cargo del Prof. Dr. Jan Wouters, Director del Leuven Centre for Global Governance,
KU Leuven (Bélgica) titulada "Brussels meets Westphalia: The European Union and the
United Nations" en la que el Profesor Wouters abordará el tema del papel de la Unión Europea
en Naciones Unidas. Este acto ha sido co-organizado por el Decanato de la Facultad de Derecho
y el Grupo de Investigación SEJ055 "Nuevos sujetos, nuevos derechos, nuevas
responsabilidades (Derechos humanos en la sociedad global)" en el marco del Proyecto Europeo
"Fostering Human Rights among European (external and internal) Policies" (FRAME).
El Prof. Dr. Jan Wouters es Catedrático de Derecho Internacional Público y Organizaciones
Internacionales de la Universidad Católica de Lovaina (KU Leuven) y Cátedra Jean Monnet ad
personam de Derecho de la Unión Europea y Gobernanza Global. Asimismo, es el fundador del
Instituto de Derecho Internacional y del Leuven Centre for Global Governance, KU Leuven y el
coordinador del proyecto de investigación "Fostering Human Rights among European (external
and internal) Policies" (FRAME) financiado por la Comisión Europea bajo el Séptimo Programa
Marco de Investigación.

On 10 March 2016 a guest lecture by Prof. Dr. Jan Wouters, Director of the Leuven Centre for
Global Governance, KU Leuven (Belgium) entitled "Brussels meets Westphalia: The European
Union and the United Nations" will take place at the Law Faculty of the University of Seville.
The presentation will address the role of the European Union in the United Nations. The guest
lecture is co-organised by the Ph. D. Programme of the Law Faculty and the Research Group
SEJ055 "New subjects, new rights, new responsibilities (Human Rights and Globalisation) in the
framework of the research Project "Fostering Human Rights among European (external and
internal) Policies" (FRAME), under the Seventh Framework Programme of the European
Commission.
Prof. Dr. Jan Wouters is full Professor of International Law and International Organizations at the
KU Leuven and Jean Monnet Chair ad personam EU and Global Governance. In addition, he is
the founder Director of the Institute for International Law and of the Leuven Centre for Global
Governance Studies and the coordinator of the research project FRAME.
