The project, Convergences, is a series of eight large scale paintings that investigate
environmental manipulation, both man-made and natural. The oil paintings consist of

EV
self-envisioned spaces where non-specific artificial materials converge and collect Each
painting portrays the aftermath o f a disaster—a train wreck to a tsunami~an increasingly
common depiction in our daily media. Structural elements in these imagined landscapes
are recognized as man-made due to their shapes, colors, and textures, mainly consisting
o f slick metals and brightly colored sun-bleached plastics. The viewpoints change in
each painting, from overhead views to more traditional landscapes. The body of
paintings in Convergences are investigations o f partially abstract, imagined environments
o f manufactured ruins.
