S series fixed form-factor devices are available in different dimensions (H x W x D). The installation scenarios and methods vary depending on the dimensions. This document describes the main device installation scenarios: cabinet mounting, desktop mounting, and wall mounting. For details about installation of remote units (RUs) or in other scenarios, refer to the Hardware Installation and Component Replacement. Cabinet Mounting Devices of different dimensions can be installed in a cabinet using mounting brackets, horizontal rack-mounting kits, or trays. This document describes how to install a device using mounting brackets, which vary according to the dimensions of the device. Use the mounting brackets delivered with the device. 1. Use M4 screws to attach mounting brackets to the device. 2. Install floating nuts on the mounting rails of the cabinet. 3. Install the device in the cabinet. Attach four rubber pads to the bottom of the device. (For some models, rubber pads or integrated foot pads have been installed before delivery. In this case, you do not need to install rubber pads.) 2. Place the device gently on the desk. 3. (Optional) Install a security lock to lock the switch to the desk. Using mounting brackets: 1. Use M4 screws to attach front mounting brackets to the device. 2. Use a hammer drill with a φ8 drill bit to drill holes on the wall, and mount the device on the wall with expansion bolts. Mark holes on the wall based on the distance between the two mounting holes on the rear panel of the device, and install mounting screws. 2. Align the mounting holes on the rear of the device with mounting screws and hang the device on the mounting screws. (For the operating voltage range of the device, see the Hardware Description of the corresponding product.) 2. Turn on the external power supply to power on the device. 3. Check the device after powering it on. When the device is operating properly, the power indicator is steady green and the SYS indicator blinks green slowly. The login method to use depends on the device model and software version. This document briefly describes the key steps and information for logging in to a device for the first time through the web system. NOTE First login to a device is not involved on plug-and-play unmanaged models and RUs. Logging In to the Device for the First Time Through the Web System Only a device with factory defaults can be logged in through the web system for the first time. To log in to a device through the web system, connect a PC to the device according to the table below, configure the IP address of the PC to be in the same network segment as the default IP address of the device, and access the default IP address of the device in a browser by entering https://ip-address. The table below uses V200R022C00 and V600R023C00 as an example. You can also obtain the default IP address and method for logging in to the web system for the first time from the nameplate at the bottom of the device. When all mode indicators are steady green, the switch enters the initial configuration mode. – Default IP addresses: IP address of VLANIF 1 – At the first login, you need to set the username and password for logging in to the device. ● S1720-X – Connect a PC to the ETH management port on the switch. – At the first login, you need to set the username and password for logging in to the device. ● S1730S-S and S1730S-H: Two methods are available: – Method 1: Connect a PC to the ETH management port on the switch. – Method 2: Connect a PC to any Ethernet electrical port of the switch, and hold down the MODE button for more than 6 seconds. When all mode indicators are steady green, the switch enters the initial configuration mode. The default IP address is the IP address of VLANIF 1. – At the first login, you need to set the username and password for logging in to the device. Hold down the MODE button for 6 seconds or longer. When all mode indicators on the switch are steady green, the switch enters the initial configuration mode. ● Method 3: If the switch has Ethernet electrical ports but does not have an ETH management port, connect the PC to the first Ethernet electrical port of the switch, and hold down the MODE button for 6 seconds or longer. When all mode indicators on the switch are steady green, the switch enters the initial configuration mode. ● At the first login, you need to set the username and password for logging in to the device. S5700 and S6700 runnin g V600 192.168.1.253 Models with the MODE button and running V600R023C00 and later versions: ● Connect a PC to the ETH management port on the switch. If the switch does not have an ETH management port, connect the PC to the first Ethernet electrical port. ● Press and hold down the MODE button for at least 6 seconds. When the MST indicator is steady green, the system configures a default IP address for VLANIF 4092. ● At the first login, you need to set the username and password for logging in to the device. Models without the MODE button or running a version earlier than V600R023C00: ● No default IP address is configured for web login. Therefore, you cannot log in to the switch for the first time through the web system. ● Log in to the switch through the console port and run commands to configure the IP address and interface for logging in to the switch through the web system. ● Enter https://ip-address:port in the address box of the browser to log in to the device.
