ESL Class Access to CTC
2015
ESL class use of the CTC requires your thorough understanding and
compliance with all information shared in this document.
In general:
• All instructors who want to access the lab with their classes will need to do
the following:
• Schedule a training if unable to attend a group training offered by your
department. This training will familiarize you with the software and
hardware, access and turn/on/off procedures.
• Follow all rules established by the CTC
• Follow the schedule or inform Silvia Morgan if you will be unable to attend
so someone else can use your scheduled time.
• Keep curriculum focus on English and avoid instruction on computer
applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, etc., during the ESL
class
• Encourage CTC use outside of regular ESL class time by assigning
homework at least every other week and using the “Student sign in/out
form.”
• Visit the CTC while preparing lessons in order to ensure comfort and
familiarity with hardware and software.
• Log the following to submit at the end of the term:
o Homework assigned
o Number of hours in lab
o Approximate average attendance on lab days
• ESL Instructional resources in the lab include:
o Rosetta Stone for our ESL levels 1-5
o Oxford Picture Dictionary
o ESL Websites on the internet – List provided
o Typing tutors
o Mouse tutors
