Instrucciones de recolección ortostática de orina “dividida” de 24 horas
Éstas son las instrucciones para la recolección ortostática de orina dividida de 24 horas. Necesitará
recoger dos contenedores de recolección de orina en el laboratorio. Es posible que también necesite
colocar un recipiente de recolección (hat) en el inodoro para que caiga la orina. No mezcle las dos
recolecciones de orina.
Recolección de orina durante el día

En cuanto su hijo se despierte, debe orinar en el indoro y tirar de la cisterna.
Ésta es la hora de inicio de la recolección.
Escriba esta hora en el contenedor y colóquele la etiqueta “Daytime”.
Use este contenedor para la orina durante el día (Daytime) para recolectar toda la orina que su
hijo produzca después de la primera orina de la mañana y hasta la hora de irse a la cama esa
noche.
Su hijo debería orinar por última vez antes de irse a la cama. Regístrelo como el final del día en
el contendor del día (apúntelo en el contenedor). Escriba la misma hora en el contenedor de la
noche (Nighttime). Ésta es la hora de inicio para la recolección durante la noche.
Recolección de orina durante la noche

Εl recipiente de “Noche” (Nighttime) se usa para recolectar la primera orina de la mañana del día
siguiente. Ésta es la hora del final de la recolección. Escriba esta hora en el recipiente de la “Noche”.
Si su hijo orina durante la noche, recolecte esta orina en el recipiente de la noche.
Es probable que el volumen del recipiente de la noche sea menor que el del contenedor del día. Es
posible que sólo tenga 1 muestra de orina en este recipiente.
Una vez que haya orinado en el contenedor, almacénelo en la nevera. Es posible que no necesite meter
en la nevera el contenedor de la “Noche” si va a llevar los dos contenedores inmediatamente al
laboratorio la segunda mañana.
Si su hijo no recolecta una de las muestras de orina o si orina en el indoro en algún momento durante la
recolección, tendrá que empezar de nuevo. Puede vaciar en el inodoro la orina que ya recolectó.
Enjuague el recipiente con agua caliente y permita que se seque al aire.

These instructions are for an orthostatic split 24 hour urine collection. You will need to pick up two
urine collection jugs from a lab. You may also need a collecting hat to catch the urine in the toilet.
Do not mix the two urine collections.
Collecting the Daytime Urine

When your child first wakes up, he should urinate (void) in the toilet and flush it.
This is the collection start time.
Write this time on the jug and label it “Daytime”.
Use this daytime jug for all the urine your child collects after the first morning void through
bedtime that night.
Your child should void one last time before going to bed. Record this as the end time for the
daytime jug. (Write it on the jug). Write this same time on the nighttime jug. This is your start
time for the nighttime collection.
Collecting the Nighttime Urine

The “Nighttime” jug is used to collect the first morning void of urine on the next day. This is
your stop time. Write this time on the Nighttime jug.
If your child voids during the night, collect this urine in the nighttime jug.
The volume in the nighttime jug will likely be less than the daytime container. You may only have 1
urine sample in this jug.
Once there is urine in a jug, store it in the refrigerator. You may not need to refrigerate the nighttime jug
if you are taking the two jugs to the lab right away the second morning.
If your child misses a urine sample or voids in the toilet anytime during the collection, you will need to
start over. You may empty the urine you already collected into the toilet. Rinse the jug with hot water
and allow it to air dry.
