spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to babes in

I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were
not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are
not yet able,

and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are
you not walking like mere men?
For when one says, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am
of Apollos," are you not mere men?
What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants

I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the
growth.
So then neither the one who plants nor the one who
waters is anything, but God who causes the growth.
Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but

me, as a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and
another is building upon it. But let each man be
careful how he builds upon it.
For no man can lay a foundation other than the one

Now if any man builds upon the foundation with
gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,
each man's work will become evident; for the day
will show it, because it is to be revealed with fire;
and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's
work.
If any man's work which he has built upon it

If any man's work is burned up, he shall suffer loss;
but he himself shall be saved, yet so as through fire.
Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and
that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
If any man destroys the temple of God, God will
destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that
is what you are.
Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you
thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become
foolish that he may become wise.
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before
God. For it is written, "He is THE ONE WHO CATCHES
THE WISE IN THEIR CRAFTINESS";
and again, "THE LORD KNOWS THE REASONINGS of
the wise, THAT THEY ARE USELESS."
So then let no one boast in men. For all things
belong to you,

life or death or things present or things to come; all

INTRODUCCIÓN
INTRODUCTION
Uno de los más graves problemas que se presentaban en la iglesia de
Corinto era el partidismo, el apóstol Pablo llama la atención en este

This partisanship degenerated into fights that ended up
dividing the church. And this is not a light issue, because it is
contrary to the character of Christ Himself and His church:
1:13 Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you,
was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
This is a series of rhetorical questions implying a negative
response from the local church at Corinth, and which shows
how absurd the divisions are.
3:5a What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants
through whom you believed,
1 Co. 1: 12: “…cada uno de vosotros dice: Yo soy de Pablo; y yo de
Apolos; y yo de Cefas; y yo de Cristo.
1 Co. 3:4 Porque diciendo el uno: Yo ciertamente soy de Pablo;
y el otro: Yo soy de Apolos, ¿no sois carnales?
Este partidismo degeneró en pugnas que terminaron dividiendo a la
iglesia. Y este no es un problema liviano, porque es contrario al carácter
de Cristo mismo y de su iglesia:
1 Co. 1:13: ¿Acaso está dividido Cristo? ¿Fue crucificado Pablo por
vosotros? ¿O fuisteis bautizados en el nombre de Pablo?

church, but to build it up. 1 Corinthians 3:6-7:

The determining factor in the growth of the kingdom . . ., is
not the ministers, but God, who gives the increase.
Therefore ministers have no reason to boast; nor does the
church have reason to boast of its ministers. The only one
who can boast is the Lord.
But the Holy Spirit, through the Apostle Paul, gives more
arguments that demonstrate the absurdity and danger of
conflicts and divisions within the church. This is in order to
encourage believers to set aside their differences and return
to the spiritual unity of the Church. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17

El factor determinante en el crecimiento del reino…., no son los
ministros, sino Dios quien da el crecimiento. Por lo tanto los ministros
no tienen razón para jactarse, ni la iglesia tiene razón para jactarse de sus
ministros. El único de quien podemos gloriarnos es del Señor.
Pero el Espíritu Santo, por medio del apóstol Pablo, sigue presentando
más argumentos que demuestran lo absurdo y peligroso de las pugnas y
divisiones al interior de la iglesia, esto con el propósito de animar a los
creyentes a dejar de lado sus diferencias, y a volver a la unidad espiritual
en la Iglesia 1 Co. 3:16-17:

In this text we have two issues:

En este texto se nos presentan dos asuntos:
Primero, una declaración acerca de la naturaleza de la iglesia.

The Apostle Paul poses a rhetorical question. This means
that this is a truth that the Corinthian church knew or should
have known: Do you not know that you are a temple of God?
But in spite of knowing that, in practice they did not keep it in
mind. Hence not only the divisions, but also problems of
doctrine, morality and difficult relations plagued the
Corinthian church.
El apóstol Pablo lo plantea a manera de pregunta retórica. Esto indica que

This is wonderful. The church in Corinth, and therefore each
local church, is God's temple, where Christ is manifested in a
special way, and where the Holy Spirit permanently resides.

But neither the believers in Corinth, and certainly not even
we, are aware of or live consistent with this wonderful reality.

The church is the temple of God, the abode of the Holy Spirit,
and if we appreciate this reality, then we are committed to:

 Standing firm on the unique foundation of the
church: the Lord Jesus Christ: 3:11 For no man can

De vivir en santidad, 1:2 “a la iglesia de Dios que está en
Corinto, a los santificados en Cristo Jesús, llamados a ser santos
con todos los que en cualquier lugar invocan el nombre de nuestro
Señor Jesucristo”

De servir a la iglesia con los dones y talentos que el Señor nos ha
provisto a cada uno en particular, 12:7: “Pero a cada uno le es dada
la manifestación del Espíritu para provecho”. ( BA: para el bien

same mind and in the same judgment.
 Living in holiness: 1:2 to the church of God which is at
Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ
Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call
upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and
ours.
 Serving the church with the gifts and talents that the
Lord has provided to each one individually: 12:7 But to
each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the
common good (KJV: given to every man to profit
withal. Amplified: for the common good; NIV: for the

This commitment is even at the expense of our legitimate
rights, Philippians 2:3-8.

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with
humility of mind let each of you regard one another as
more important than himself;

Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ
Jesus,
who, although He existed in the form of God, did not
regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,
but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant,
and being made in the likeness of men.
And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled
Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even
death on a cross.

This is just a summary of our responsibilities and
commitments to the church, which is the temple of God and
the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit.
Esto solo es una síntesis de nuestras responsabilidades y compromisos
para con la iglesia, que es el templo de Dios y morada del Espíritu Santo.
To the degree that we study the Word we must go deeper
into our responsibility and commitment to the temple of God
which is the church.
En la medida que estudiamos la Palabra debemos ir profundizando en
nuestra responsabilidad y compromiso para con el templo de Dios que es
su iglesia.
And we should not assume this responsibility as a heavy
burden. Matthew 11: 29-30

We ultimately acknowledge these responsibilities as great
privileges:

God, the Lord gives us a solemn warning: SEVERE AND

This tremendous warning from God to those who threaten the
unity and sanctity of the church makes it clear:

But if we attack and fight among ourselves, if there is no
difference between us and the world, what witness can we
give to the world?

Sadly before being a testimony, we end up being a stumbling
block to unbelievers.
