Manassas, Virginia ALL SAINTS CATHOLIC CHURCH May 22, 2016 M ass I ntentions May Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Trinitarian prayer is the way to enter into the glory and mystery of God. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. The life, light, and love of the Holy Trinity is that in which each person is called to share. This revelation of Jesus that God is a communion of persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — is the goal of our lives. We have been created to share in this very life of God. We use the word “divinization” to describe God sharing his divine life with human beings. The love of God the Father for his only-begotten Son, Jesus, and the love of Jesus for the Father is what we call the Holy Spirit, the bond of love. Human language cannot give complete meaning to this ineffable mystery, yet Jesus has revealed that he came to lead us to the Father. Jesus also promised to send another Advocate, the Holy Spirit to guide us. We come to God, through Christ, in love poured out through the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:1-5). Our human relationships, in community, draw their source from the inner life of the Trinity. God created all of creation to be drawn up into this divine mystery. Our prayer is shaped by this mystery of the Holy Trinity. Our lives and relationships with others are formed by the endless giving and receiving of love that flows from the heart of the Trinity. Let this truth make a difference in how we pray and live! Even though summer vacations will begin soon, it’s never too early to be thinking about what you can do to pass the Faith on to the next generation. As we have just celebrated the great feast of Pentecost, each is called to live the grace of Pentecost and to go out and spread the good news: that Jesus is the One who saves us from sin and death through the victory of his cross and resurrection. We need your help as a teacher or classroom aide for our Religious Education program. While taking some time to relax this summer, perhaps on the beach or at the mountains, think about what God might be asking you to do to further the message of his love. Can you help? This is to help families adapt to the new twoyear sacramental program. I mportant S acramental P reparation P rogram C hanges for 2016-2017 For this coming year, the Religious Education (RE) office has established a two-year sacramental preparation program. This means that children and teens who are receiving a sacrament will need to be enrolled in Religious Education class during their sacrament year and the preceding year. For example, a child who would receive First Communion in second grade in 2017-2018, would need to be enrolled in first grade for 2016-2017. This program will include the First Communion, Confirmation, and Christian Initiation sacrament preparation programs. 2016-2017: Program Transitional Year • This year, all children may be enrolled into their appropriate grade regardless of whether they completed a preceding year of religious education • Children who did not complete religious education classes for 1st grade or 7th grade will need to complete a transitional packet before they begin classes in September, 2016. The packet will ensure that children have the adequate preparation they need as they approach their sacrament year. These packets will be available in the RE Office and online at w w w . a l l s a i n t s r e l i g i o u s e d u c at i o n . o r g by May 31, 2016. • Please note: If a child is scheduled to receive a sacrament in 2017-2018 they need to be enrolled into an RE class in 2016-2017 for their preparation year. More information about RE class sessions is available by calling the RE Office or on the RE Office website (see above). P astoral C are End-of-year Senior Luncheon, Tues.
