When deacons are assigned they work along with their spouse in service to the parish. We are assigned Deacon Candidate Chris Ciraulo and his wife Debbie and they will arrive at OLF on July 27. Chris will be ordained a Deacon on Saturday, October 27 at Saint Columban Catholic Church at 10am. Chris and Debbie have lived in Murrieta for the last year and before that they were residents of Newport Beach. They were parishioners of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on the Balboa Peninsula. Chris is employed by the Orange County Fire Authority as a fireman and Debbie as a nurse. They have four children. One of their sons is a Marine assigned to Okinawa. Their daughter recently gave birth and so now they are grandparents. The word deacon comes from the Greek diaconoi and means servant. They are assigned to a parish by the bishop. They receive no salary for their service but are reimbursed for expenses, offered remuneration for continuing education and their annual retreat is paid for. Chris and Debbie have served in jail ministry, training and scheduling of altar servers, and adult faith formation programs. I am looking forward to them assisting the parish in baptismal ministry, wedding preparation, and adult faith formation. Once Chris is ordained he will be able to baptize, officiate at weddings, and preach a homily at Mass. La Diócesis de Orange ha asignado a un candidato diácono para servir a la parroquia de nuestra Señora de Fátima.
