Una canción sobre la pérdida y el desamparo, el dolor y el sufrimiento, un huérfano cuestionando el costo del
SIDA.
Desde que el VIH/SIDA comenzó su marcha mortal hace 25 años, los niños y niñas, como Florence de Kenia, son
el grupo más perjudicado.
Alrededor de 15 millones de niños y niñas han quedado huérfanos, y más de dos millones están infectados con
el virus.
Es una crisis que afecta a toda la infancia, y a no ser que se haga algo al respecto, solo va a seguir empeorando.

‘‘Los niños y niñas han sido la cara oculta del SIDA durante los últimos 25 años de la epidemia. Es importante que
concentremos nuestra atención en las necesidades de los niños. Necesitan tratamientos, necesitan ayuda para la
prevención y educación. Necesitan cuidado para los huérfanos. Quince millones de niños han perdido a sus
padres en esta epidemia. Debemos examinar la cuestión de la transmisión del VIH de madre a hijo.’’
Únete por la niñez, únete con la juventud, únete para vencer al SIDA es una campaña global para apoyar las
necesidades de los niños y niñas.

‘‘Tenemos que dirigir la atención del mundo a las necesidades de los niños y el impacto del VIH/SIDA. Debemos
unirnos por los niños, unirnos contra el SIDA.’’
La campaña, lanzada por UNICEF, ONUSIDA y sus principales aliados, trabajará para prevenir que los bebés
nazcan VIH positivos, y proveer tratamiento si lo son, ayudar a prevenir infecciones entre los jóvenes y proteger a
los millones de niños y niñas que están infectados o afectados por el SIDA.
