Painting
Face painting can give your child a chance to pretend to be a person or animal that he is not.
Before you start to paint your faces, talk about animals or characters that would be fun to
create. While you are painting your faces, look into the mirror frequently and talk about how
the new face might make you look different but you feel the same inside.
What your child will do
Paint his face to look like a favorite character.
What you need
•Face paints
•Sponges
•Mirror
•Wipes
What you do
1. Decide what character you would like to be.
2. Wet your face paint crayon a little on the sponge.
3. Paint your face.
4. Be careful not to paint too close to your eyes and mouth.
Questions to ask
Who do you want to make yourself look like? Tell me about your face. What kind of job would
you have if your face looked like this? How does looking different make you feel inside?
For parents
Many children grow up thinking that who they are is determined by how they look. This is a
good time to talk about no matter how someone looks on the outside, they are still the same
on the inside. Getting a haircut is an example of how a child looks different but is the same
person inside. When other children tease her, she begins to question if she is the same or
different now. The more secure your child is about who she is, the easier it will be to get
through these tough times.

tendrías si tu cara se viera así? ¿Cómo te hace sentir por dentro el verte diferente?

Muchos niños crecen pensando que lo que ellos son es determinado por la forma en que se ven.
Este es un buen momento para conversar sobre que no importa a qué o cómo alguien se ve por
fuera, ellos aún son lo mismo por dentro. Cortarse el cabello es un ejemplo de cómo un niño se
ve diferente pero es la misma persona por dentro. Cuándo otros niños le hacen burla él empieza
a preguntarse si ahora es el mismo o es diferente. Entre más seguro se sienta su niño sobre
quién es, le será más fácil pasar los momentos difíciles.
