To 12:30 PM Sunday, September 11, 2016 Church Questions of the Week/ Preguntas de la Semana Theme: Commitment is required to follow Jesus. Breaking Open the Word Suggested text for faith sharing: Today's Gospel Step One: Listen to the Word As you listen to the reading today, what image caught your imagination? What word or phrase struck you? Step Two: Look into Your Life Question for Children: Jesus says that in order to be one of his followers, we must be close to him. When do you feel closest to Jesus? Question for Youth: Jesus tells his disciples that they must renounce their possessions in order to be His disciple. If you had to, could you leave everything behind to be with God? What would hold you back? How much of a struggle would it be? Question for Adults: Today's Gospel is demanding. How do you as a modern man or woman "denounce your possessions?" What does this mean for you? Coming very soon to our parish! Viene muy pronto a nuestra parroquia! “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone.” (1Cor 12: 4-6) Are YOU willing to share your gifts with the youth of our parish? Become a catechist! Please contact Sister Karen at srkaren@sainttimothycatholic.org The catechist, then, is a Christian who is mindful of God, who is guided by the memory of God in his or her entire life and who is able to awaken that memory in the hearts of others. –Pope Francis Air conditioning update/Actualización de aire acondicionado Unfortunately, after 30+ years our two main air conditioning units have stopped working. We are receiving the estimates for the new air conditioning units. For the time being we will close the chapel area during the weekend masses to conserve the little air conditioning we have. Sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation. Activity of the Week/Actividad de la Semana Choose one of the following activities as a way to further reflect on the Sunday readings: • Together as a family, talk about the crosses you and your family have been asked to carry. (Examples: sickness, financial concerns, issues at school, etc.) On a cross cut from construction paper, write which cross you, as a family will help each other carry this week. • Plan a time of family prayer. Each family member should reflect on a time when he or she has known the presence and wisdom of God in his or her life. Gather around a lighted candle and invite each person to share his or her story. After each story everyone prays, Oh God, we give you praise. • Together evaluate the relationships of the family members. Do we treat each other as a true brother or sister in Christ? How can we improve our relationships with each other? Have your family give concrete examples of how they can–and will–improve. • Discuss with your family what it means to live as a disciple in the world today. What are the risks involved? Remind the family that your love and support of each other should help you follow Christ in difficult times.
