INTRODUCCIÓN Dado el posicionamiento cultural, científico y económico que diversas comunidades angloparlantes han tenido en los últimos cinco siglos y, especialmente, durante el pasado y lo que ha corrido del presente, la lengua inglesa se ha convertido en un vehículo de comunicación global, transnacional y transcultural. Desde esta perspectiva, constituye una necesidad para cualquier persona que se desempeñe como estudiante o trabajador de cualquier área del conocimiento o del sector productivo, ser competente en la comunicación que se da a través de esta lengua. En el caso particular del SENA, se cuenta con políticas enfocadas a la masificación del inglés como parte de la competencia comunicativa, no sólo de aprendices e instructores, sino también de todos los colombianos. De esta manera, a partir de un programa de formación complementaría enfocado al nivel A1- según el MCE, se espera dar inicio a un proceso que apoyará la inserción laboral y académica tanto local como global de un amplio rango de población dentro y fuera de la institución. Dear diary, I have just come back from my trip to Santa Marta and have so many things to write. Maybe, I should start from the beginning. Three friends from college, Susan, Elizabeth and Nick, travelled with me. At first we planned to travel by plane but when we wanted to make our reservations, there was nothing available for us! So, we had to travel by bus. I know, it is much longer than in plane but at the end I simply loved the beautiful variety of landscapes you can see all the way and the buses that were very comfortable, with air conditioner, great movies and nice food. The truth is that we didn’t plan to stay in that hotel either, but the other hotels in the area were all full so we didn’t have any other option. Anyway, I had great expectations about being in a five-star hotel for the first time in my life! Unfortunately, the hotel was so crowded that every time we called room service, they wouldn’t answer! It was so disappointing. The only thing I liked from the place was the wonderful view of the beach from our room. It was so relaxing and almost spiritual. In summary, I didn’t enjoy the hotel that much but I did enjoy the beach a lot. By the way, you had to see the bellboy trying to lift Susan’s, Elizabeth’s and my own luggage to the room. I think he broke his back. Each of us carried more than 25 kilos, I guess they were heavy because of all the clothes we bought for this trip last week, poor guy! 1. Where did she stay? a. The local cuisine was mainly prepared with seafood and it was just OK, but the Italian restaurant we went to the first night we were there, My Lord!
