había empezado y no estaba acabada, la acción de comer estaba en
proceso)

(el hecho de dar la cantidad de tiempo indica que sabemos que terminó,
ocurrió y se acabó)

(Tenemos dos acciones, la de conocer a su esposa, que fue puntual, y la de

ocurrió)

refiere al sol, y otra puntual, que ocurrió mientras la otra seguía)

(Aquí es el contrario, la acción que había empezado y no estaba terminada es
la de salir del museo, y la acción repentina es la de la lluvia que empezó
mientras estaban saliendo)

(El verbo olvidar no suele emplearse en tiempos continuos. Piensa en lo raro que
suena “yo estaba olvidando” comparado con “yo olvidé”. No es imposible, pero
tiene que ser una situación bien particular. Aquí además tenemos “last night”, la
acción de olvidar ocurrió y se acabó)

(La espera de la policía había empezado antes, estaba en curso, en proceso,
cuando ocurrió su llegada. Cuidado con “The police” que, como people, se usa
con el verbo en plural)
